I'd like a million of them all 'round myself
I want an engineer to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
You've got me turning up I'm turning down
I'm turning in I'm turning 'round

Makes you wonder how they became wealthy in the first place.

All right? That's it. We can all go home now.

The XKE, for instance, was radically different from the E-Type that preceded it, but is no less loved.

It did work well, but so, too, did the Golf, which they made major changes to every generation.
And look which one is still in production.

They may not be popularly cited as one of the best looking cars of all time, or even one of the most reliable, but their value is on the rise, and the few people that I know that own them love them fanatically, to the point of going to XKE owner club meet-ups.
I would say that that's some lovin', right there.

This new car... this may be a Jaguar, but it's not an XJ.

I just want to see the damn car already!
I love the XF, especially in light of the fugliness that was the S-Type, and if the new XJ looks like a scaled-up XF, all the better.
It worked for Audi, didn't it?

I, too, am a big fan of the current XJ, but at somepoint, they do need to have the courage to innovate. I, for one, wholeheartedly support their attempts to do just that.

@benrobNU: I think that since the design is so iconic, it's gotten boring. It's time to kill it. It's a design that has grown stagnant and keeps Jag from moving on with its new lover in India with those beautiful Tatas.
I hope this is a more affordable/reliable Maserati Quattroporte.

When you think about it, most "sporty vehicles" sold these days are sedans. The S4 sold in better numbers than the S5 is currently selling in, and I would guess that the new S4 will be no different. The M5 sells in greater numbers than the M6, the C63 far outsells the CLK63, and the XF outsells the XK.
For whatever reason, that is what the trend is. And if that's where the money is, what's wrong with car companies going after it?
Your assertion holds no more validity than the congressmen and others who accuse GM of building too many SUVs and not enough cars "that people want", and yet the vehicles that have been in the most demand for the past fifteen years have, in fact, been SUVs. They went where the demand and the money was. GM made the mistake of ignoring it's other models in the interim, but neither Jaguar or Audi have made that mistake.
