    1985 Chevrolet Camaro

Whether you were grabbing a gear with the 190-horse IROC- oh, wait, you couldn't get the manual transmission with the Tuned Port Injection 305- or experiencing the joys of leaky rubber seals with your Berlinetta's T-tops, the 1985 Camaro let you live it! The glitchy VHS recording just makes this ad that much more Eighties, we think.

The Ten Crappiest Cars Of The 2008 Monterey Auctions

The Pebble Beach Concours is always a spectacle of the well-heeled celebrating the well-known in the fancy-pants car show circuit. To go along with the car show wine is the cheese, also known as the Monterey Auctions, put on every year by the house of RM Auctions. There are always hit lists of the most desirable and historical cars crossing the blocks for huge sums of money; to wit, Edmunds Inside Line just did their "10 Best Cars at the 2008 Monterey Auctions" piece today. But we tire of such endeavors. That's why we dug around and found out what's at the bottom of the list. Below the fold: The ten crappiest cars at the 2008 Monterey Auctions. More »

Nelson Supercars Chevy Camaro - The "F Bomb"

This is the Nelson Racing "F-bomb". It's a 1973 Chevy Camaro which belongs to David Freiburger, Cheif Editor at Hotrod Magazine. David's Camaro has been caged and tubbed, and a 406 cubic inch twin turbo V8 was installed. We were a little disappointed to find out the car only makes 1540 HP and 1527 lb.ft. of torque. That sounds pretty weak for a Chief Editors ride. We're not going to go braggin' er nothin' but a real Chief should be driving around in something tough and manly, like a Jeep Liberty.

Volkswagen Scirocco, Live And In The Flesh

We were more excited about the VW Scirocco coming back when we saw it in concept form as the "IROC" back at the Paris Motor Show two years ago. To be fair, that's really just because the prospect of a new car being called the "IROC" made us happy in so many way. Most of those ways involve sadism in some way, but happy nonetheless. Still, it's gone from concept to reality with so much changes, the only similarity between the concept and the production version are that the shape looks vaguely concordant. Also, Scirocco has "iroc" in it. Otherwise this coupe's supposed to hit the Euro market later this year at a cost of almost 22,000 multi-colored Euros. Full press release after the jump.

The Man Can't Stop You From Hitting 53 In Your IROC-Z!

Frankly, we're puzzled by the drama played out in this ad for the '85 IROC-Z Camaro. There's a chiseled blonde helicopter cop obsessively following an equally chiseled, equally blonde IROC-Z driver, who scrupulously adheres to the 55MPH limit. Then they meet up in some sort of macho non-showdown in a methlab-esque desert town. Wait, are they the same man? Hey, don't worry about the plot- just listen to the heartbeat of America!

Identities Obscured to Protect the Innocent

There's a ring of hell under construction for Bondo misusers, where the doomed will cruise an infernal mall parking lot in perpetuity, awkwardly chatting up damned chicks and scoping out spots among the brimstones on which to do donuts. They'll serve their sentence in cars like this, with no sense of proportion, design or economy of form. Remember kids, there's no such thing as "Camaro Summer." More »

Paris Auto Show Reveal: Volkswagen Iroc Concept

Sorry about the long absence today, but the ubiquitous Internet, from our experience here in Paris, is more of a nice dream (like air conditioning). But we're back, and playing around with the new site. Did we mention we have a new gallery system? Let's try it out with Volkswagen's Iroc concept, which went live today before steaming crowds of automotive hackery and flackery. The concept hearkens a new Scirocco coupe, which the company says has "a good chance" of going into production. We'll take those odds. More »

Hey Ya! Volkswagen Iroc Concept on Video

If it was VW's idea to use Andre 3000's "Hey Ya" as the sound bed for this promo video featuring its new Iroc concept, they're geniuses. If it was some enterprising chap who just wanted to break the silence that usually pervades carmakers' press vids, even better. Nonetheless, there it is. More »

    Proto-Scirocco? Volkswagen Iroc Concept

Our compadres at Eurocar Blog got hold of a few scans from an unnamed Spanish magazine that's allegedly published photos of Volkswagen's Iroc Concept (no, not IROC, Tony, ScIROCco), which will inform the company's upcoming Scirocco coupe. As EcB points out, the concept in these shots looks like an elongated VW Golf, with a connection to VW's Ecoracer concept it showed in Tokyo. The real Iroc will debut at the Paris motor show next month. No T-tops on this Iroc, though — it looks like it'll have a panoramic sunroof. More »

Over the Back Fence: VW to Show IROC Concept in Paris; May Hearken New Scirocco

No, not the kind of IROC that once roamed the boulevards of Staten Island like great iron steeds dipped in a huge vat of Armor All. According to supposition from a board member of VW Vortex, Volkswagen will show a concept car called the IROC, for ScIROCco at the Paris Motorshow in September. More »
