According to advertising claims and certain editors' understanding of physics, if someone really wanted to survive an attack, they'd be much better off in an armored Smart rather than one of these heavies.
If they can armor a Suburban from multiple IED's, of all things to armor, why can't our military give our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan the same protection from IED's? Too many soldiers have been severely injured or killed from those nasty devices because the underbelly of their tanks and other vehicles have inadequate protection.
@technoindigo: It's an interesting question and one I posed to TAC. They don't specifically advertise protection from IEDs because the "I" in "IED" stands for "improvised." It could be three sticks of dynamite or it could be three hundred sticks. Occasionally, they'll use 500 lb bombs.
There's definitely an issue with inadequate floor protection for many military vehicles, but at the end of the day it's difficult to apply this survival case to all of them.
-If you think about it, it's more of a mental protection, if someone is out to get you it's going to happen no matter what you do with the car,
In the demo videos they only showed 1 shot of an ak-47, I don't think the car will stand up to a fully automatic ak-47 with a drum clip and Armor piercing bullets.
Did that idiot just fire that AK-47 at a windsheild placed next to an OPEN garage door? I wonder how the people living next door feel would about that? Any respect I may have had for their work just went out that same door.
@TexanIdiot25- needs a edit buton... EDIT: Needs an edit but...: I'm pretty sure that when I go out on a motorcycle, I won't crash, but mistakes happen. For this guy, it's a simple matter of placing the target somewhere that will not cause a stray bullet from his assault rifle to not fly into the open if he somehow slipped or was distracted.
@Hello Mister Walrus: I'd bet my CST10 a trained rifleman shooting into a heavy steel box at a bullet proof material with another bullet proof material behind it at close range is MUCH safer than riding a motorcycle where there are an infinite number of uncontrollable variables in contrast to this.
@Ambiguously Unfunny Serial Killer: That would be pretty cool. But there's something about a sleek A8 or S-class Mercedes, in all black, barreling down the road while escaping attackers. Too many movies I guess.

Shooting into a box, that's all metal, at a large target, with more bullet proof material behind it, shooting from roughly 20 feet away.
Very, very different scenarios.

I particularly like the Suburbans and large German sedans.
I especially like it when they have gun ports.
