In reply to 2010 Hyundai Equus Photos, $96,000 Price Tag Leak
    To the folks at Jalopnik,

My name is William Lee and I am the Editor-in-Chief of TheCarBlogger ([thecarblogger.blogspot.com]). I am requesting the immediate pull down of this article unless our website is rightfully credited for these images. Hyundai-Blog has, in the past, stolen images from numerous websites such as ours and those belonging to Brenda Priddy.

    Thanks

$10k more than an A8. I'm guessing we won't be seeing Jason Statham in an Equus anytime soon.

100k for a Hyundai? Seems that Hyundai has been trying to make luxo-car for years now. The only problem is that the execution falls flat, the cars look cheap, and in many cases the design shamelessly rips off European sedans. They fail to realize that the kinds of people who would buy an Audi would never consider a Hyundai. The Genesis- they're latest attempt- has a grill ripped right from Mercedes.Plus the car looks generic.

Lastly, perhaps Hyundai has improved, but just a scant few years ago, they were pretty much disposable cars. I'll let someone else be a guinea pig and try their latest offerings.

@bobwilson1977: Most people who bought high end Euro stuff used to say the same thing about Toyotas and Hondas. Now there are people who'll pay six figs for a tarted up 'Yota.

The thing the Japanese did different is they set up new "luxury" brands so people wouldn't think they were buying a mere Toyonda. That, as you said, may be where Hyundai falters with these cars.

If any car company could make such a significant jump in the automotive food chain, it's Hyundai. Unfortunately, that car ain't going to do it. Maybe it will work in South Korea, but what American car buyer in their right mind would say..."hmm, I could get a Maserati or a Hyundai. Give me the Big H!" I think that's a ways off.

Don't laugh too much. Hyundai will buy up bits of GM when the company falls to pieces this year. Add a wreath and crest as well as a padded vinyl roof, and you're looking at the 2012 Cadillac Fleetwood. Or, given the current love for alphanumeric names, the Cadillac FTW.

For that price, Hyundai better be dropping a V10 or 12 in. Also, they better leave it in Korea until the Genesis brand gets established here in the US. Until then, it's only useful as the Korean Toyota Century.
Oh, and one more thing: Hyundai should change the name before drowning in a deluge of naked Harry Potter jokes.
    Never mind, they already are.
