This has worked a treat in Germany, where spotless Opel Mantas and E24 5-series are being scrapped so that another Dacia or Hyundai is sold.

Absolutely retarded. Shortsighted, unenvironmental, wasteful, depressing, and so on. And as is evident, only resulting in more cars being built in Korea.

I for one think its wonderful that the British government will be giving people money to support the manufacture of Korean cars.

I can almost guarantee no one who gets this cash for their clunker is going to spring for a Range Rover.

I thought scrappage was some kind of English sausage made from organ meat. Now I know it's made of old cars.

@d.a.r.y.l.: Based on what? Hyundai from the 80/90's in not the Hyundai of today. Your hate for Hyundai is outdated and not particularly clever.

@bertone77-wishes it would stop raining on his parade: Despite my best efforts, I simply cannot even think about looking at a Hyundai or a Kia. Even if I were in the market for a new car, there's just something...wrong about them. The only people I ever see driving Hyundais and Kias are ones with some sort of defect, like googley eyes or a gimpy leg or something.

I'm sure some good cars will get scrapped. Likely, most of the one's we'd be interested will be rolling parts cars at best. The bulk of the cars turned in will probably be boring and horrible appliances, because that's what makes up most of the older fleet.

In reply to Hyundai HED-6 Concept: Zoom-Zoom?
Hyundai's European design team has hailed HED-6 as an 'urban nomad, a car of contrast for a world of contrast', citing cultural influences from major cities like Berlin, Paris and London as key to its creation.

You mean they went around and looked at Mazdas in the city.

I'm still convince Bangle was moonlighting at Hyundai. Every concept coming out of the automaker that rhymes with Sunday has a Bangle-butt. At least this Mazda ripoff doesn't have the awkward lines of the Genesis coupe.

It's not bad. The lower panels need some re-styling, but all in all it is much better than the Santa Fe.

There was so much hate for Chris Bangle upon his departure from BMW, but you can see his influence in almost every single concept that's coming out. Flame surfacing for everybody!
