    Nice. The strakes on the corner duct look more suited to Audi, and the rims are awful, and the back seat looks like a painful place to take a long trip. But overall this looks pretty sweet.

    A GTI is my practical dream car. Once I have a family and two doors is no longer practical I'll get a MazdaSpeed3.


    Not sure what I'd do it I had more than three kids. But it would have to include RWD/AWD and 350+HP. Maybe Mazda will have a MazdaSpeed5 by then.

    @philipmein: Wouldn't a MazdaSpeed5 be absolutely sick? I'm not sure why, but I've got a weird thing for those mini-minivans. They'd look so cool lowered on big wheels with blacked-out windows.


    And a 2.3 turbo under the hood.

    @philibuster: I second that idea! BTW, the 6-series one I linked weighs in at a hefty 6627, and I don't think they even got all of it in there, seeing as how it cuts off mid-word.

    @666speed: Interesting--I didn't find the MkV hampered by FWD much at all, at least compared to most other FWD cars.


    But I've done FWD for 15 years and am ready for RWD next time around. I'm mostly just tired of questionable traction when starting or accelerating up hills (especially when wet).

    @Ash78: I wouldn't say "hampered," as in slower around a track. It's just a feel thing. Getting yanked around corners by the front wheels vs getting pushed around by the back. I prefer a push from behind any day. Wait, that came out wrong.

    To me, oversteer = fun, and understeer = boring. I could see fwd for a "sporty" car in snowy climates, but I live in southern CA, so it's rwd for me.

    @A strolling player, now in British Racing Green!: Yes, to each his own. But I have to ask: how? And I'm not being a smartass here - apart from an e-brake or a swedish flick on snow or dirt, I don't know how to get the tail out on a fwd car.

    @666speed: Liftoff oversteer. If you're understeering 'round a corner then suddenly get off the throttle, the back will very likely come out.


    Full disclosure: the road was slightly wet. It's a friend's car and had never really been hooned before, so I don't know that I'd have been confident enough to make oversteer happen on dry roads..
