But, really, what's the sample size? Given there are still a very low number of hybrid cars on the roads, this might not be statistically significant.

Is it legal for a private business to have your car towed for such a bullshit reason?

Another thing... shouldn't a parking spot close to the entrance be reserved for the handicapped? Why can't a hybrid owner walk the same distance as the rest of us, so long as he or she is able to do so?

I drive a gas-guzzler, unfortunately, but it seems like just like you guys think hybrid drivers are all smug douchebags, you guys are acting like butt-hurt assholes. Get over it and quit your whining. Get a damn hybrid car or lose some weight if walking an extra 20 feet is too much work for you.

I took this pic at my local Ikea... 1st time seeing this so it deserved a picture.

Those smug hybrid drivers definitely deserve to be closer to the main entrance right?

I'm glad I have a motorcycle, I just pull right up to the building and park it right beside the bike racks. Smell my exhaust you green-eco-hippies!

It sounds like they're taking the cheap unthinking route to LEED green building certification:
"Projects earn three points (two in LEED for Schools and LEED for Core & Shell) by providing one of the following: 1) preferred parking for low-emitting or fuel-efficient vehicles; 2) alternative fuel refueling stations; or 3) occupant use of low-emitting or fuel-efficient vehicles. "

They could have some objective standard for 1) like less than 240 grams of CO2 per mile (which would kick out fat hybrid SUVs and allow various compact cars), rather than a stupid non-discriminating "Hybrid parking space", but it still seems like a pointless divisive approach added to the program at the last minute when some builder objected to the expensive of a recharging station or providing golf carts to guests.

I've seen these before. So, in order to get a good parking spot nowadays, I don't need to be handicapped or pregnant, just a smug ecobastard?

i converted my Suburban to use EXTRA gas (pin holes in the fuel line, tire pressure dangerously low). I get 5mpg, highway.

i will park it in this spot, and then take a huge dump on the hood of my car, and then crush the sign, eat the poop, throw up on the tow truck, eat the sign, and poop it out and crush it again!!!!!!
