Those look as if they could almost pass as old drawings of the concept for the current generation G coupe. The back is nearly the same (albeit in sketched concept style), and the front is not that far of a departure. #nissanskyline

Oh dear god. I just took a look at these custom Fords, and I think I'm going to regret covering the show. Can they get ever more tasteless than these creations?

Oh well, just got to stand up tall, and report what I see. Maybe they will look better in person. #ford

That Flex hardly "breaks the mold of cookie-cutter project vehicles on oversized chrome rim" in fact, it seems more to me that they actually used the definition of "the mold" as an instruction manual.

And I just can't get behind this Transit obsession. Sorry, it just doesn't look like a passenger vehicle to me, and no attempt to Westphallicize it will make me think different. #ford

@weatherman: it could just be that I know who's doing the Flex, but it seems to me that the recent trend is to put really large wheels on a car, and not bother to fix the ride height. Without giving anything away, this car is gonna be slammed, with large wheels. But again, I'm biased. #ford

"breaks the mold of cookie-cutter project vehicles on oversized chrome rims" followed by "Rolling on 22inch falken tires and wire spoke dayton wheels".

I get behind the Transit obsession though, but for commercial reasons rather than passenger reasons #ford

Re. "coolover" - that word must be stricken from the collective vocabulary. I'm almost tempted to carpet bomb the English language so that it is never spoken again.

I want the FSWERKS Focus though, however they forced in 500hp. The MRT-Direct SHO is pretty nice looking too, maybe how it should have looked from the factory. #ford

I thought Fisker was a Finnish company. Why aren't they providing the loan?

But then I see Fisker is based in California, no doubt to benefit from US government handouts.

What sucks is that this thing wont even be manufactured in the US; it's going to be build in Finland. So much for creating American jobs.

I like the lines of the Panamerikarma... wonder how their electro-box will look? I'm not a big fan of their proposed price tag, though - nor that of the VaporVolt... maybe someday these car companies will figure out that you can already get an electric forklift that has more Mean power demands than any electric car needs - plus enough torque to lift several thousand pounds - for less than what they're proposing to build their electric cars for, and decide that they can do it for less.

@HoonThatFerrari: That's an instructive, but poor, comparison. Electric forklifts have low speeds with occasional bursts of power, and it's a benefit if their battery packs weighs more than a ton. (Crown 4500: max speed 10 mph, battery weighs up to 4000 pounds!).

Hydrogen fuel cells from Ballard and Hydrogenics are already a reality for fork lifts, they claim benefits in eliminating the space, time, and hassle of recharging and swapping out hefty battery packs in a 24-hour operation.

@skierpage: It's certainly not an apples-to-apples comparison, nor was it intended to be... it was just there to illustrate that a level of price efficiency for a certain sector of electric powered vehicles - that are far from toys, by the way - has already been attained, so it seems senseless that they can't get there with regard to pricing for electric cars.

Different purposes, different engineering, yes - but ferpetessakes, the car industry has been working on this for many, many years now & seem to not have made much progress on it.
