    In reply to 2010 Dodge Viper ACR Debuts At Laguna Seca, Sets Lap Record

    I watched a beautiful older model Viper tear up an SCCA Autocross track this weekend. It showed sexy and powerful amongst a group of more power hungry Euro and Rice tuners. It was not the fastest thing through the torturous twisties that Autocross relies on, that was relegated to abnormally aspirated AWD's and BMW's. It was however, the best looking, best sounding stock monster there. The Viper made the sheer 'get to the gate' brake, punch, brake, punch look incredible, even when it overpowered itself and spun into the grass.

    @skaycog was here: The Viper is probably my favorite American car of all time, but I wish they didn't sound like a red-lining UPS truck.

    @BRAWNDO_POWERED:
    They are really neat cars, for sure. I live in small town and have only seen one in person. I was sitting at a stop light, on cell phone (shame on me), when a Viper drove down the highway. I started yelling in my phone....."A Viper, A Viper". My girlfriend I was talking to freaked out. (My girlfriends don't understand my love of cars anyway).

    @skaycog was here: Hahaha I feel ya man. I always just go "Oooh" or "Damn!" and then put reality on hold for 5 or 10 seconds until the car goes by. I tell the girlfriend that at least it's a piece of machinery I'm lusting after and not a piece of something else..

    @iancoleTX: Yes, it's okay to lust after cars. Period. BTW, I'm not a guy. That's the main reason my girlfriends don't understand. My guy friends get it though.

    @skaycog was here: Same here, I yell out when I see something interesting ("oh shit, a Cobra... no, it's probably a clone... wait, can't be, it's a 289, OH MY GOD IT'S REAL!"). Mom is afraid I'll crash because I do it so often, but I force myself not to rubberneck in such instances.

    I wonder where it places on the lap time/msrp leader board.

    Compared to the many o' crack pipes we've had for similar price, I think this deserves a nice price.

    Mainly being... Ya know, a sports car, and not something that is riced beyond imagination.

    As long as the title aint salvage, that's a nice price right there. I actually like the fact that he didn't pressure clean the engine, it means it's more likely that the wiring is still functional.

    That's a cool car, and it looks like this guy got plenty of fun out of it, so good for him. I want it, but I wouldn't buy it due to the cost of maintenance, the cost of insurance, the impracticality, and other boring realities.

    Lets see. What could I do with that $22,000. I could buy a Toyota Camry!

    NICE PRICE.

    (I, personally, wouldn't have the Viper. But the price is good, and Vipers are awesome sauce. I'd buy myself my three dream cars, all of which can be had for under $10k)

    Nice writeup, but no. For that, you could get yourself a much nicer, newer, lower mileage C5 Z06 with just as many torques and a few more ponies, not to mention superior handling. 'Nuff said.
