The newer models, on the other hand, were poser-mobiles from the get-go. They were put out there for people who think Chevy Tahoes are too wussy for them, but at the same time, want something that rides a little nicer than an Army truck. The main thing here is to look like a Hummer, not necessarily be one.

you should be able to drive whatever you want to and be free of persecution. if people actually realized hybrids might not be all they're cracked up to be we wouldn't put prius' on such a high pedestal

They read 8MPG.

Statistical significance and selection-bias aside, I think we can all agree that being stuck in the left lane behind an H2 or a Prius sucks to the same degree.

Actually, I apparently support Deer There, Yam Ram, POLAЯ, and company. Looks like I'm gonna get about 24 out of this tank so far.
Finally, because nobody has said it yet, where's Sarah Palin's H2?

Does this view still count if you drive a 100MPG Hummer?

fiscal responsibility, Strong foreign policy, and common sense but liberal social policy
I agree. That's why I used to vote for the Big-L Liberal party up here, back when they didn't suck. Fiscally conservative, socially liberal.
Now, we have the Big-L Conservative party in power. Socially conservative, fiscally retarded.

So now you're back to delusional.

Perhaps Hummer owners are not delusional; the authors of the Journal are simply jealous of their moral and fiscal superiority.

Too soon?
It's a one-way implication. Hummer - conservative doesn't mean conservative - hummer.

Exactly! ;)

Anyway, it's just a longer H2 underneath, and that was my original point.

To paraphrase what our Canadian friend said upthread, I used to vote Republican back when they didn't suck. There was once a time (you 20-somethings wouldn't know about this) when the Republican Party actually had smart people running it, and they tried like hell to hide their then very small Sarah Palin wing in election years.
The epiphany for me came in 1998, and I'll give you just one guess what was going on in 1998.

What I've always found odd is how the liberal left promotes women's rights and free speech, but favors gun control over the rights of gun owners.

Me, I love cock, and I respect your right to own and fire whatever the hell you want as long as it's locked up when you ain't usin' it so your kids and/or burglars can't get it. I enjoy confusing people; it's a hobby of mine.

And you know how kids are. You can tell 'em no, and it'll be forbidden fruit.
That's about it. If you don't have anyone who's likely to play with it and/or take it to do something violent, I'd support you if you left it, loaded, on your nightstand.

And yes, I do sleep with a loaded gun in an open safe that is next to my bed. I close it when I leave, because I choose to, not because the law requires it. The government shouldn't be legislating what I do with a Glock in my own home, just like it shouldn't be legislating your cock.
