Even though one of my Hell projects (down to 2, I used to have 3!)is an AMC right now, I went with the Packard. Yes, it HAS a title which in and of itself is unusual for a project this cheap, but I can't imagine there is much left that would not disintegrate if you touched it, let alone moved it. The weeds and grass have probably dissolved much of the lower portion of the car, and I doubt it could ever be moved safely from it's current rusting place.

@Jim-Bob: AMC, you say? How very interesting, I have a couple of those myself...

@Mike the Dog: Yeah, I still have my first car (well... the roof, floors and quarters!). It's a 1979 AMC Spirit DL that had a 232 1bbl six in it originally, but now has a 1973 360 that has not run in years. It rides on Dodge Diplomat cop car rims with mystery trim rings, AMC centers scavenged from a bucket at a junkyard for $2 each, and silver GM rally wheel silver paint from a spray can. It's Corvette white with the bumpers painted to match (looks better than oxidized aluminum!), has a Spirit AMX spoiler out back, and the interior from a 1980 Spirit. The CD player came from a friend's junk pile and works sometimes, and it uses the console and factory detented shifter from a Spirit Limited. The suspension is Spirit AMX as is the V8 crossmember, and the rear axle came from a 1974 Gremlin X V8 with 3.54 gears. The trans is a Torqueflite 727 from a 1977 Matador wagon, but will be replaced with a TF 998 from a 1981 Concord that I scored for $50. With 2.5 in duals and Flowmasters, it wakes the dead, when it wants to run. I plan on putting the 360 from the Javelin AMX project I was forced to get rid of (code enforcement bastards!) in the car in another few weeks then sell it. I can then put my nicer 1985 Cutlass in the garage, take the tags and insurance off of it and concentrate on finishing school. After all, I still have my 309,000 mile Frontier to drive every day, and finishing my mechanical engineering degree is the most important thing now. Then I can build something more interesting... like a Trabantabusa!

@Jim-Bob: I think the AMC is a much more interesting ride that an '85 Cutlass, but then again, I'm a bit biased. I've got an '84 Eagle Wagon and a '63 American 440 Sedan in my driveway. Neither one is PCH, thank heavens.

The Packard is sitting in a field. The Hudson is (was?) not.

    Advantage: Packard.

The Hudson is gone/expired. Since I have abandonment issues, I went with the Packard.

Besides, it's PCHell, right? Well, just look at it. I don't see rust, I see a front end looks like a 55 Pontiac and a 57 Caddy--and maybe a little Oldsie--had a genetic mash up before the breed went extinct.

Oh, and why is it that every time Murilee puts in, "Go here if..." the main link works; but when he doesn't, then at least one link is busted/post gone. (/Seinfeld whine)

Fancy this. I'm just up to 1957 in a book I bought on the fall of Packard. As hastily contrived as the Packardbakers are, I still feel compelled to pick the Packard... But there's a Hudson Hornet for sale, here. Fantastic engineering, although the styling was noticeably crappier after the redesign. This is tough, but I think the enthusiast in me pushes me towards the Hornet.

If I truly wanted something carpocalyptic though, and something PCH-ish... the Packard Hawk it would be. That's if any of the 600 or so made are still kicking. Heck, I'd fork over good money for one of those, no matter how unreliable the Stude V8 is or how hard it would be to procure parts. It was the swan song for Packard, it looked outrageously tacky and it had gold mylar tailfins and a supercharger. It's in my dream garage, for sure.

@Derrado Stopford Winters: If I had to pick a Stuckard, it'd be a '58 Hawk. In slightly-faded gloss red. Fish-mouth forever! Or something.

The Hash is in a driveway. The Stuckard isn't. In fact, "the road salt has got the better of it". This one's not hard.

So where the shit are the screenshots? The Hash is gone already.

There's still an active Hudson dealership in operation. Miller Motors in Ypsilanti, Michigan can supply everything you need, making the Hudson restoration a snap!

@Deartháir and his eight little drained beers: I don't claim to speak on behalf of the famous Junkman, but I think he meant "a snap for anyone who picks up a phone and calls Jack Miller". He's a great guy, and if he doesn't know what it is and where to get it, it probably isn't a Hudson part.

Couldn't see the Hudson, but the weedy parking spot handed the Packard the win by default, anyway.

I'd love to do a tirade but I just have no clue at all about either of these cars to do anything with them.

    Thanks for the PCH Murilee.
