That CRX is so much better looking than the newer Hondas. And Mugen has never been worthy of consideration because their parts are so ridiculously overpriced. I imagine some self-important jerk somewhere in Japan decided to base prices on how big his ego is.
And I agree Mugen has definitely gone downhill, now offering little more than cosmetic bits. #honda
A number of years ago, I read a music critic's reference to Golden Earring's Radar Love as "the earth-mother from which punk rock was birthed." I didn't get that at all. I'd heard similar statements about I Wanna Be Your Dog and even 96 Tears, which I could accept — but what the heck did a poppy "progressive FM" radio hit have in common with the Ramones or the Clash?
So I went back and listened to it again, and it was all there: the oddly syncopated, somewhat rushed, grunty lyrics; the raspy, up-all-night rasp to the lead vocals; the feedback-laden, repetitive guitar licks; the start-and-stop drum cadence — well, I'll be damned. The guy was clearly right, if a bit hyperbolic.
Looking at the '84 Mugen CRX, I can now say that this is the earth-mother from which all ricers were birthed. #honda
I realize it's not a Mugen, but no love for the Civic race car beside it? That CRX is wickedly cool, but it doesn't have a Band-Aid covering up some random ding. #honda
Go buy a CRX for $1500, then spend many times that for power upgrades from Mugen. Sounds like an expensive way to make your car(and maybe yourself) fall apart faster. #honda
I own an 87Si Straman along with a standard 87Si and I have to say my Straman is much more ridged then the hard top crx.
This car is an 85Si as it was the first model to come with Fi and the only Fi model to come with recessed headlights. This car is in sad shape and way over priced in my opinion, I would say around $1000 is a fair but still optimistic price. I have more pictures then shown here of this car and the Straman convertible is there and looks to be in working order, although the top fabric needs to be replaced.
@Ford Tempo Fanatic: The difference between the two are similar to the difference between your beloved FoMo product and a Lamborghini Miura. #1985crxconvertible
I own one of these Straman built CRX's. Some owners that own both a Straman Spyder and a regular hardtop say it the cut car is just a stiff. $2500 is a bit high for a car this rough, but I am ready to watch the Straman CRXs and hardtop CRXs really go up in value as "Generation X" gets closer to having some disposable income and the kids move out of the house. The CRX was one of the ‘objects of desire’ for many kids of that generation and are fondly remembered. #1985crxconvertible
