Lets face it. The only way that non-gasoline/diesels vehicles are gonna be a thing of the past is when every drop has been leached from our planet and our air is nearly unbreathable. Wow. I blacked out for a minute there. What did I say? I gotta stop eating granola.

It's the oil companies! Yeah, that's it. They want to keep us hooked on oil, so they are colluding with Honduh to kill the CNG car! Next they'll be going after all those aftermarket companies that sell CNG conversion kits. Yeah, that's it. And then they'll go after battery manufacturers. Then they'll start buying up all the mass transit systems and dismantle them. Yeah.

@kumbayacars: That theory makes for an easy explanation, but streetcars would have fallen out of favor even without corporate conspiracies. The Pacific Electric, for example, only operated in the black one or two years, IIRC. Combine that with increased reliance on private autos, development of suburbs forcing trolley speeds down for safety, and governments who were under pressure from the public to not take over the systems to ensure continued service, and you have an equally effective recipe for the end of the streetcar era.

@Upgrade to Tomsk Diamond today!: Indeed, every buyer must have a seller, as much as I'd love the Detroit railcars to still exist, the combination of good freeways, cheap cars and expanding suburbs rang a death knell for the street car operators.

Honda also killed off their soon-to-be-dominant F1 effort. That a conspiracy too?

Honda's battening down the hatches and paying attention to its core business, and hoping to weather the storm and emerge intact.

Just how many CNG cars did Honda ever sell, anyhow? Not enough to be a rounding error on their balance sheet. Since they owned the subsidiary, they'll retain all of their patents, knowledge and implementation expertise. Next time we have a fuel crisis or the price of natural gas becomes remarkably low, they can trot the system back out. Nothing lost.

It's too bad, especially for the fired employees. I thought that the CNG plan was vastly better than BMW's hydrogen plan, particularly when you add solar panels to run a battery charger and the natural gas compressor. Then you're sitting on a real flex fuel alternative.

Canada has a higher percentage of CNG vehicles, but thanks for coming out.

In fact, this is just part of the Carpocalypse, which is a side effect of the Bankageddon. American banks sank the ship. Canada's banks are just fine thank you very much. We have these funny little things called basic rules in place, for mortgages, insurace companies and so on. So eat it, because this one ain't gettin' pinned on us... no way, no how.

Saw this on CP24 (Toronto News Station) a while back. I have seen a couple of these cars around. They seem just like regular cars except for the sticker. So ,does this mean that Honda is going to rely on Hybrids for the time being? I mean, no diesel, no CNG. My only hope is that they can get the whole hydrogen thing going outside of Cali.
