Most Hideous Nissan GT-R Ever?

Messing with the Nissan GT-R is risky. Even though you're not supposed to, sometimes the results can be quite tasteful. The problem, though, is when something like this happens. Someone decided it would be a good idea to wrap their GT-R in black and bright-green matte-finish vinyl. As if that wasn't bad enough, a set of gaudy 22" rims have also been bolted on. The Zele carbon fiber body kit wouldn't have been terrible by itself, but it just adds to the mess here. Sure, the car probably has a bit more oomph thanks to an HKS boost controller and a Mine's exhaust, but it still can't outrun its ugly. Surprisingly, the car does not belong to Brian O'Conner, Paul Walker's character in The Fast And The Furious. Remember his Eclipse? HKS GT570 Nissan GT-R Makes 559 HP... At The Wheels

Plenty of tuning options for the Nissan GT-R are popping up, but few are as appealing as this HKS GT570 power upgrade. The standard GT-R is rated at 480 HP, but this kit is supposed to up that to just over 570 HP at the flywheel by way of a new exhaust, intake pipe kit, boost controller and wastegate actuators. A shop in Hong Kong decided to find out for themselves, so they installed one of the HKS kits, strapped the car to a dyno, and ended up with a reading of about 559 HP at the wheels. Considering that you expect 10-15% of the power at the flywheel to be lost in the drivetrain on most cars, that's an astonishing result. Either the GT-R's drivetrain is stupidly efficient, the HKS kit is underrated, or perhaps a bit of both. Video of Godzilla on the treadmill after the jump.

HKS Tunes 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Even though no media outlets have yet driven the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, that hasn’t stopped the company from handing them out to every tuner in the western hemisphere. The latest to get their grubby, carbon-stained hands on the Coupe is HKS, known for sticking big turbos in little cars — which is exactly the approach they took with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. No performance numbers have been revealed yet, but expect HKS to unveil a range of Genesis performance upgrades, along with the boobs of several trashy booth babes at the SEMA show in November. FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 3, 2008 – Hyundai Motor America today announced that HKS USA, Inc. will create a high-performance Genesis Coupe for the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. The all-new, rear-wheel drive Hyundai model will make its SEMA debut at the Las Vegas Convention Center Nov. 4 – Nov. 7, 2008. HKS, the leading manufacturer of premium performance parts, is the second company to join Hyundai for this year’s SEMA show.

“Genesis Coupe has the basic DNA that HKS looks for – an excellent chassis, rear-wheel drive, aggressive styling and a new generation turbo-charged engine. These attributes provide the opportunity for HKS to maximize the Genesis Coupe driving performance capabilities for the serious driving enthusiast,” said Rick Lafferty, president, HKS USA, Inc. “HKS is allocating R&D, engineering and prototyping resources to lay the groundwork for HKS-brand Genesis Coupe performance parts. The HKS plan for the Genesis Coupe includes a HKS GT Turbo upgrade to maximize horsepower and torque, HKS engine internals, HKS limited-edition turbo exhaust system, HKS Super Mega Flow Intake System, HKS Engine Management and HKS Hipermax III fully-adjustable suspension.

“We’ve designed Genesis Coupe from the start to be tuner-friendly,” said John Krafcik, vice president, Product Development and Strategic Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Partnering with an industry leader like HKS is a terrific way for us to stretch the performance envelope of Genesis Coupe.”

The HKS Genesis Coupe will also showcase functional ground effects designed by Ken Style, HKS Time-Attack cars’ aerodynamic partner. The interior will emphasize driver comfort and control with HKS electronics including CAMP2 that monitors up to 24 data signals from the Genesis OBD2 and programmable calculations for fuel costs, average fuel consumption and fuel efficiency in real time.

HKS Mitusbishi Lancer Evo X Gets HP Boost And Suspension Upgrades

The new Mitsubishi Evolution X is already a great performer, but what happens when you give it to a tuning company like HKS? No surprise, they've made it better. The HKS Evo makes 382 HP, about 97 HP more than the standard Evo. Even better, that figure comes at 6230 RPM, about 790 revs lower than the power peak from the factory. The grunt comes from an HKS engine pack that includes a new intake manifold, a tweaked engine control unit, and an uprated turbocharger.

But what an Evo is really about is the handling, so HKS also provides a chassis upgrade kit with new suspension parts. You can complement the low stance with 265/30R19 Advan tires mounted on 19" Advan Racing RZ alloy wheels. To give it the full treatment, the styling package has an aerodynamics-enhancing body kit, as well as carbon fiber mirror caps, hood scoop, side protectors and front apron. So all well and good, but let's be honest—if you could get your hands on a mint Evo VI TME, which would you really want?
