    The trucking company, Herb Holden Trucking is an older trucking outfit with a pretty good record of safety, and the trucks are all less than 8 years old (you would be surprised at how many dump trucks are 15 - 20 years old!)


    By the way, that particular truck is a Mack Granite. Oh, and look, here's what one looks like new:

    @Sigsworth: Well, since I live about 1/2 mile from where this happened (Take a look at the sign, South Windsor is the next town over from where I call home), and I work with trucks, let me explain those wheels. Yes, they are lowered for extra heavy loads. Around the Northeast, these are called Tri-Axle's, and are used for Dump and Refuse applications.

    @UDMan: Very common on dumptrucks where I live, too. It always looks funny on the really short wheelbase trucks. It's like four sets of near-continuous wheels from stem to stern.

    Well this obviously wins some sort of prize, but I'm not exactly sure what the contest is that leads to it. In fact I am almost afraid to ask. Nevertheless, as long as it involves time trials and dueling dump trucks, it's sure to be a hit in rural America. I say we franchise the sport, and make our fortunes. Couldn't be too long before we have our very own Nazi Hooker extravaganza, just like Max Mosley.
