<![CDATA[Missouri Dealer Offering Free Gun Or Free Gas With Cars, Though We See A Way Of Getting Both...]]> It's not too much of a surprise to hear that this car dealership in Missouri is offering a free gun with the purchase of a car. It's also fairly common these days for dealers to lure customers in with gimmicky offers of free stuff or cheap gas. But there's just something about the combination of both incentives under one roof that gives us a warm moist feeling of hope for an America where all car dealers everywhere will sucker-in fearful consumers to showrooms, regardless of which mainstream media-induced panic the customer suffers from.

What is it with Volkswagen Jetta owners and Craigslist?. Though we have to give the GLI owner credit, he got a commenter account (The_Honest_Joe) and started commenting in response to our jokes and questions. We're sort of hoping this person shows up as well. (h/t Braff) [Craigslist]

<![CDATA[Taurus Judge: A Hand Cannon For Your Car]]> The prospect of a car jacking is not a very pleasant one. What better way to protect yourself from that occurrence than to stash a positively ridiculous revolver in the car? The Taurus Judge is a weapon "specifically designed for use in the vehicle" and capable of chambering both .45 Colt or .410 shotgun shells. The rifled barrel of the Judge is designed to disperse buck or bird shot rounds as quickly as possible in an effort to dissuade potential thieves from pilfering your automobile. In other words, it'll blow a big-ass hole in somebody at a really short range. [Taurus USA]

<![CDATA[East Bay Test Drive Violence]]> postimg left

Richmond, California is an interesting study in duality. In the flats, it's all liquor stores, industrial parks and shacks that may not even have running water. The hills on the eastern side of I-80 is largely middle-class and really rather scenic. The two worlds seem to have collided on the freeway yesterday, when a man test-driving a Mitsubishi was cut off by gat-wielding hoods in a Nissan Murano. Said thugs opened fire when the salesman gave them what for, shooting the driver in the head and sending the Mitsu barrelling off the road. The driver and salesman were both hospitalized. We're betting that the man wishes he would've gone digging for a used Starion instead. The suspects in the Nissan are still at large. [Thanks to Ryan for the tip.]

<![CDATA[Gats and SUVs in Anchorage]]>

We haven't checked the stats, but somehow we doubt that Anchorage is exactly East Oakland with snow. Although we once had some adventures with snow in East Oakland — but that's neither here nor there and a long time ago. Regardless, some people are alarmed with the increasing rate of drive-by-type violence in Alaska's largest city. And in ways, we have to agree. We think the wild-frontierness of Alaska is pretty cool, but there's really no reason to drive around capping people. Actually, there's no good reason to drive around capping people in general. Unless, of course, you're Dick Cheney. But then you just do it on foot. Dickie, grab your gun and get up there. There's oil under that thar tundra!

If you're 19 years old and you're packin a .38 and you have some weed on you, what's the most natural thing in the world to do? Go take pictures of police cars with your cell phone whilst they're parked at the station. Officers in Manchester, CT, noticed William Davis acting supiciously, snapping pictures of their license plates. Upon confronting him, they found the gun and the herb. Cry for help, much?

Be forewarned, y'all who're gonna try to sue the insurance company of the guy who blasted through your plaster 'n' drywall like Charles Whitman rockin' it at near-point-blank after you pissed him off in traffic: an Arkansas court has ruled that gunfire can't be considered a car accident, even if it's levied from a vehicle, as it was in this case. <![CDATA[People With Guns Angry, Study Says]]>

Now we like to go shootin' as much as the next red-blooded American, and now and then we have a tendency to flip someone off on the road when they do something dumb. But according to a new study by Harvard School of Public Health people who carry guns in their vehicles are apparently more prone to acts of road rage. So watch out for that angry man chasing you down the freeway after he lets the bird fly. He could be packin'.

<![CDATA[Car Shootin' Couple Apprehended in Utah]]>

Make a post about cars and guns in Utah and strike news gold the next day, that's what we always say! A Colorado couple traveling on I-15 and I-70 in the Beehive State inexplicably broke out the firearms and began shooting out the windows of fellow motorists. Their violently mischievous luck held until they came upon a cell phone-wielding, justice-obsessed driver in a Chevy Tahoe who not only alerted the po-po, but gave chase to the gun-brandishing culprits. The Utah Highway Patrol quickly got involved and the perps were apprehended and booked into Silver County Jail on charges of aggravated assault.

<![CDATA[Loaded Guns, Cars in the Beehive State]]> drive_by_shooting.jpg

Given the state's high Mormon population and weak beer, Utah probably worries less about loaded drivers than many other states. But the latest argument in the state with the self-proclaimed "greatest snow on Earth" revolves around loaded guns in cars. While 60,000 Utahns legally carry loaded guns in their vehicles by virtue of having qualified for concealed-carry permits, right-to-arm-bears bear-arms activists are pushing for all of the state's citizens to be able to legally carry loaded guns in their vehicles.

While we're generally not into a whole lot of government regulations, if you need a license to drive a car, we think it's only right that you have one that says you know how to safely handle a firearm without experienced supervision. We don't own any firearms ourselves, although we do enjoy a trip to the shooting range; we're definitely not anti-Second Amendment, but we are pro-common sense, and Utah's current law strikes us as common sense.
