Full Details On Ford Australia's Multi-Flavored FPV Falcon Lineup

When Ford of Australia first announced their lineup of F6 FPV lineup we didn't pay too much attention to the various minor differences in the F6 Falcon lineup. Little did we know how far the Ford Performance Vehicle group was going to go in order to meet the needs of anyone with the cash to throw around $60,000+ USD on V8-powered goodness. Each vehicle in this range comes with the new 5.4-Liter Boss V8 good for 422 horsepower and 407 lb-ft of torque mated to a ZF six-speed auto transmission or TR6060 six-speed manual gearbox. The GT is your basic high-performance sedan while the GT P takes it a couple of steps further. The GT E is at the upper extreme, offering similar performance without all the boy racer styling and colors for the hoon with a briefcase. Press release below the jump.

2009 Ferrari California, Revealed!

Ferrari welcomed us all a little bit early to the Hotel California, and yes, it's a lovely place. In fact, check out the lovely face on the new 2009 Ferrari California just to see if we're wrong. Despite being told we'd need to wait at least another week before shots would officially go live, the prancing stallions at Ferrari have revealed three press photos of the new Ferrari that's been alternately called the "Ferrari GT," "Ferrari California GT," "Ferrari Dino" and "Ferrari Little Tiny One" in the spy photos. OK, maybe not that last one. But the rest of them are accurate. Whatever we used to call it in the spy photos, it's now set to take on a bit of West Coast flair. We'll be pleased as punch to see it in person in Paris later this year. For now, check out the photos below and press release after the jump.

Ferrari GT Coming in 10 Days, 23 hours

The buzz machine for the pending Ferrari F149 just got a lot louder. A teaser website for the pending prancing pony which is apparently now called the Ferrari GT just went up and it's not only touting the time line for our first look, but also gives a specific countdown —10 days, 23 hours as of this printing 20 minutes — AND engine noises (swoon), AND a look at what we're assuming is the door handle. Hold onto you butts folks cause it's probably going to be a Ferrari GT love-fest for the next 10 days. [FerrariGT Countdown]

Ferrari F149 Dino California GT Thingamacar Caught Without Crazy Rear Camo

Despite the deadline for the really real pictures of the new Ferrari F149 (or Dino, or California GT) being supposedly only days away now, new shots have surfaced showing the true shape of the car. Now we're getting somewhere, we can see the tail end drops off with a very Berlinetta-like gusto and the overall shape reminds of the Maranello, though much smaller. The camo also suggests a fairly large radiator intake and two smaller intakes for something down low below the headlights. Very interesting Ferrari, this small GT thing you're working on has got potential. (h/t to Ard-Jan)

Porsche Carrera GT Eats It While Driving Onto Trailer

Here we find a perfect example as to why using those 2x8's you've got lying around behind the shed to load a half million dollar Porsche Carrera GT is a bad idea. We're not positive of the categorization here, but "epic fail" might be as close as we can get for everybody involved in setting up this cringe-worthy scenario. You can almost hear the carbon fiber chassis going all crunchy right at the end. Ouch. [VideoMax (NSFW banner ads)]

Baby Ferrari F149 Dino California GT Or Whatever Caught In Action At Fiorano

You've already heard about the upcoming baby Ferrari. A lot. Though we're not sure if it'll be called Dino, F149, California GT, or something else. What we do know is that we're told we can expect it to expose itself in about two weeks. And now, we may also know what it looks and sounds like in motion around Ferrari's Fiorano test track. Is that a V8 we hear screaming through the tailpipes?[YouTube via autoblog.nl]

2009 Nissan GT-R Spotted Prowling For Wolverines

Despite the fabulous camera phone quality of these photos, the visage of Zingerman's Roadhouse behind this 2009 Nissan GT-R is undeniable proof Godzilla is stalking the streets of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Nissan has a development facility in the area, so it's not entirely surprising to see the beast from the far east there, but nonetheless, it's the first we've seen on the road in the mitten state. The only other reason for it to be in the area we can think of is to impress all those University of Michigan engineering students. Right, students. (Thanks for the pics Skyler)

Ferrari F149 Makes Photographic Debut... in Two Weeks?

The rumor mill has been churning at full froth lately over a possible new model from the shops of Maranello and Modena. One set of reports calls it a Ferrari Dino, another calls it the California GT and as of late, the third option is the Ferrari F149. Whatever it ends up being, Topspeed is reporting images of the new car will hit the web in just two weeks time. This means some outlets must have embargoed pictures — which means we'll probably be showing you shots later today after somebody jumps the gun and spills them all over upon seeing a story up saying the words "Ferrari F149." We all know how itchy those trigger fingers can become. But until then, we'll just have to be content to peek again at the spy photos of the Ferrari F149 / Dino / California Dreaming / Whatever and the knowledge that something is on it's way. We think.

Aston Martin Releases Official Vantage GT2 Shots

Aston Martin finally got around to taking photos of its new Vantage GT2 racecar. A step above the Vantage N24 road-going racer, the GT2 will compete in ALMS, FIA GT and Le Mans series. We told you a couple of weeks ago that the 4.3-liter V8 will run on either ethanol or gasoline and should make about 480bhp. There's not much more information available, so we'll just sit back, look at the pictures and drool.

Pontiac G8 GT Slams BMW 5-Series In Poetic Verse

From the book of car, whatever that is, comes the latest in the march of ads for the Pontiac G8 GT. We all thought the Spy Hunter commercial was clever, and the Hot Wheels one was slick too. This new web-only commercial turns it up a notch, taking the fight right to the lion's den, comparing the new 2008 Pontiac G8 GT to the BMW 5-Series. Hmm, that's an interesting approach from the brand that never used to drive excitement, especially when they claimed they were, but since it's their ad, do we really have to say who comes out ahead in this one? What we really like about this latest commercial is the poetry slam vs. powerpoint presentation style, plus the funny pictures of goats. Subtle allusion to the Pontiacs of the past, perhaps, but automakers should remember that farm animals always make for a good direction for a car commercial. At least in our minds. [Youtube]

Geely GT Photos Leak Ahead of Beijing Auto Show

Wow, it looks like the Geeley GT could mean that China's finally found a design language all its own. These photos have leaked out ahead of April's Beijing motor Show without any related information. So we'll speculate.

2008 Pontiac G8 GT Goes "Hot Wheels" In Second Commercial, And It's "Mine"

Pontiac's ad agency released a second commercial this weekend for their new rear-wheel drive muscular muscle sedan, the 2008 Pontiac G8 GT. While we've got to say it's not nearly as cool as the "Spy Hunter" G8 commercial we saw in the wee hours of Friday morning, the "Hot Wheels" theme ain't too shabby. Although we'd have found the commercial more convincing had it shot off the end of the track and into the back of our younger brother's head. Still, we're wondering what pubescent fantasy they'll use to market the newly-revealed 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP, the G8 with a stick. Wait, don't answer that question.

New Pontiac G8 GT Commercial Gives "Spy Hunter" A Sweet-Ass Twist

OMG, Pontiac finally has a decent rear-wheel drive sedan in the 2008 Pontiac G8 GT and now they've got a killer commercial to go along with it. The boys from the arrow-headed brand have mashed up "Spy Hunter," the classic Midway video game with the G8 GT playing the lead role. Finally, a commercial for a GM product that actually manages to evoke the few positives of the malaise era while at the same time making it clear it's a totally different beast. We love it. Unfortunately, we don't love the "viral e-mail" we received alerting us to the availability of the new ad. That missive below the jump.

New FPV Lineup Leads Ford Attack On Aussie Muscle Market

Don't think the Muscle Car Wars are only taking place here in America. Our Aussie brethren — the people who invented the word "hoon" — have themselves a bitter rivalry going strong for years; Holden HSV vs. Ford FPV. And with Ford's new FG Falcon, FPV has itself some new hardware to do battle with. The team at Ford Performace Vehicles doesn't want to release official numbers until the official launch in June, but we're expecting big power from both the turbo inline six and the 'Boss' V8 mills. Although rival Holden's weaponry is shared among GM's global empire with British Vauxhalls, American Pontiacs, and even Chevys in the Middle East, these Aussie Fords will stick to doing battle in their homeland. Though a few will probably sneak into the UK on the gray market, we won't see these FPVs on 'merican shores at all (come on Ford, think Mercury here!). Galleries below and full press release after the jump.

Irmscher GT i40: An Opel GT With V8 Power

Who says the Germans are always hung up on Bruce? Sure, the press release we just received from German tuning house Irmscher says "Please consider the environment before printing this e-mail" at the bottom; but the body of the message has an entirely different tone. Forget the standard weaksauce Ecotec 4-pot; it seems the German hordes have realized they coulda had a V8 in their Opel GT. So Irmscher is releasing their version of the wee little roadster made off the same assembly line as our Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice with a 480 PS (473 HP) 6.0-liter V8 of unspecified origin. We're sure the German Green Party will totally be happy. Full press release with all the hilarious German-English translation errors — like "V8 Power to be enjoyed" — after the jump. We're just going to sit here and dream of a V8 crammed between the rails of a Saturn Sky. Don't mind us. More »

New Renault Laguna GT Gets Four-Wheel-Steering

Renault has just announced that their new Laguna GT will feature four-wheel-steering. The new model, which will be revealed officially at the Geneva Motor Show in March, is a mid-range family sedan that rivals the Ford Mondeo. It will also come equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox and a choice of either a 205bhp 2.0L turbo, or a 180bhp dCi that makes 295lb/ft of torque. Usually the preserve of exotic performance cars, Renault claim their four-wheel-steering, dubbed Active Drive, boosts maneuverability, response and precision. They also claim it's safer, actively contributing during both hard braking and high-speed avoidance maneuvers. No prices yet, but expect it to compete with Ford's Mondeo and the VW Passat. Renault has given us a serious case of mid-priced car four-wheel-steering envy. The press release follows the jump.
