    Please stop it with your obvious American bias and list places in Canada as you would someplace in the United States. In this case instead of the stupid sounding "Norman Wells, Canada" you should have used "Norman Wells, Northwest Territories" so people have an idea where the hell things are. Would you like it if someone said say, "Buffalo, USA" or somesuch?


    Just by mentioning the fact that this took place in the NWT, would have made things much better. Plus, the NWT has bear shaped license plates (as does Nunavut, which split from the NWT).

    @Triborough: I have to second that, it is an absolute pet peeve. I don't care if it's, "Toronto, Canada", or "Vancouver, Canada". They're big, we know where they are, and all you're doing is insuring everyone realizes it's the real Vancouver, not that American imitation.


    But Norman Wells? Ohhh, yes, good old Norman Wells, right there beside... uh... well, nothing, actually.

    I realize you're trying for some "HAHAHAA CANADA = COLD = ICE LOLZAMBONI" joke. What I am visualizing, though, is you reaching into a deep pool of sewage, and groping around with one arm for something which is JUST BARELY out of reach, while trying to keep your face out of the shit.

    great lottery, great cause, stupidest prize ever. hell, even if someone in a major canadian city on the prairies won, they'd have a tough time with a koenigsegg. i live in edmonton - worst roads of any city in the entire G8 - that poor car would get shredded by the potholes here. and i could never afford the insurance for it anyway...

    @FuzzyPlushroom: Edmonton wins over Russia, I suspect. They're putting in a LRT -- an el-train, a subway, whatever you wanna call it -- at the south end of town, and their idea of directing traffic is to randomly make the highway zig to the left, then zig sharply back to the right. And they've carved huge chunks out of the road, so there are literally curbs that you drive over at 80 km/h.


    Okay, it's posted 50, but it's Edmonton, nobody does the speed limit.


    I hit a pothole the other day so hard it knocked my glove box open, my ashtray open, dumped the CDs out of the door pocket, and disconnected my satellite radio.


    Mind you, it's a Volkswagen, so most of those things happen on their own anyhow.

    @Pope Deartháir II of Awesome: I am Canadian and I have to agree with you. Carbuffs are definitely the minority here. Most people are too busy complaining to the human rights tribunal that someone called them a bad name to care about cars. Oh and they want to ban everything like plastic bags, coffee cups, bad language, video games, bb guns, cell phones, talking in your car, on and on. Sometimes I really hate this country. Well not the country, it's beautiful, but the fucking people in it.

    @1300ccsoffury: I dunno, Colorado has plenty of natural beauty and also plenty of hot rodders and car enthusiasts. Maybe I see this more because I live in a town only a few miles from a drag strip, right next to curvy mountain roads, and full of retired baby boomers with too much disposable income. I also see a lot of people "justifying" the purchase of a WRX by saying that they "need" the turbo and AWD to get through those snowy mountain roads.

    They tried to ban leaded race fuel earlier this year, but we stopped them...W00T!


    The dumb part of that legislation is that leaded race fuel makes up less than %1 of leaded fuel consumption in Canada, yet they didn't want to do anything about the other 99.x% !


    Our MPs, and MPPs have too little to do. That should be a part time volunteer gig at best.
