I'd expect the cars to pull over and settle this in the pit - at which point the Vette driver proceeds to tune up the Lambo's aluminum body with a Louisville Slugger and subsequently kicks the driving-glove-equipped, latte-drinking, Porsche-sunglasses-wearing, Lambo-driving poseur's lily ass.

Unless it's Chuck Norris. He'd never own a plastic car.

What I don't understand is that the guy that makes the GT series (10 points of my non-existent reward system awarded to the person that knows his name) didn't want damage in GT5 for the longest time, because he wanted to keep the cars beautiful. NOW, he has done a complete reversal and is smashing REAL cars into one another for a commercial? WTF

@Tedders: Maybe that's the inspiration for it - Kazunori Yamauchi never wanted to see these cars smashed - and neither did many GT fans - but after enough prodding and urging, they've finally implemented it.

So now to show that, we get a commercial that makes car fans cringe like he does seeing damage modelling... #gtforpsp

@Novaload: The fiberglass on any of the old vette's I've seen was shockingly thick and heavy, but they were mostly older street cars that'd had hard lives so maybe they'd been beefed up over time. I wouldn't be surprised if it was stronger than the thin (is it?) skin of a Lambo. #gtforpsp

I shouldn't have watched. It brought back bad memories.

Around the time I graduated college, my daily driver was a 69 Corvette sporting a (not numbers matching, of course) healthy 454 wearing a tri-power under a L-88 scoop. It had manual everything and fat (G60-15 front, L60-15 back) bias-ply tires. You don't just drive a car like that, you experience it.

I was driving home one night, and a woman in a Porsche ran a stop sign right in front of me. I'm not sure whether the Porsche was totaled, but the Vette certainly was.

It took about a month of negotiation with the insurance company before we settled. I had the great misfortune of scooting around town in a Grand Am rental car for that month.

At least the other car in the ad wasn't a Porsche and the Vette wasn't Monza red. #gtforpsp

@koolykool44: While C3s do have a lot of less-than desireable characteristics, you have to take them in the context of the time. A friend of mine, who is a retired Mechanical Engineer, bought one fresh out of college. A 1970, with the 454 big block. He said the power of that car was amazing- absolutely astouding. He told me one night, he was driving across Nevada (back when there were no speed limits) and decided to see just how fast it would go. He was doing 140 mph when he finally lost his nerve, but the car was _still_ accelerating.

Granted, the handling was, by modern standards, downright dangerous, especialy at those speeds. But you can't ignore the sheer audacity of cars like that. Cars like that, for better or for worse, will never be built again. And if you've never ridden in one, or driven one, I suggest you do both, and then report back here. #gtforpsp

@mechimike: Never be built again? what about the Zo6 or the ZR1? Both way faster and can handle, sounds like sentiments talking to me. PLus ok it was fast in a straight line....for its time, a rental rav4 V6 can see 140 plus these days. And probably handle far better too #gtforpsp

@koolykool44: Not sentiments. Seat of the pants. I've driven cars built spanning 5 decades, and each has their own personality. Older cars, to me, are more involving in the whole driving experience. A Z-aught-six is a better car, on paper, than a '70 Stingray. But I still suggest you drive both. A guy where I work has one of each generation of Corvettes. None of them are trailer queens. #gtforpsp

@mechimike: Over the summer i took some ASE courses and my instructor had 3 C3 vettes. A 69, 74, and 1980(Coolest one IMO). Sadly i only joined in for rides as he let no one not even his wife drive them, but i left underwhelmed every time. IDK must be personal opinion on such cars. I saw and continue to see them as nothing special. But hey even the Tempo/Topaz has a fan following. #gtforpsp

@koolykool44: I'm not specifically a Corvette fan, in fact up until recently I knew very little about them, but I consider myself a general fan of all things automotive, and the Corvette does have a relatively large place in the history of the automobile. I consider the early Mustangs complete crap, too (I owned a '65 for a while) but they are important cars.

A friend of mine has a '71 with a 350 that he built in it, coupled to a 4 speed, and the car just flies. Handles like dog shit on a rope, but flies nonetheless. Its a visceral experience just riding in the car. #gtforpsp

@mechimike: Bingo, hes having fun with his car and so are you. SO what if the car gets a little less then perfect during the process? its just a car in the end, might as well have fun with it. I much prefer a few scratches from the car being used then a Perfect 0 mile example thats a museum piece. Cars are meant to be driven. Not collected #gtforpsp
