    Well, at least Ford, Toyota and Hyundai will still be in NASCAR. I hear Ratan Tata wants to raise Jaguar's profile by fielding an XF, too. It could be fun, and the inevitable demographic shift probably wouldn't hurt NASCAR's finances too much.


    Unfortunately, Lou Dobbs is reporting that new, foreign-owned Nextel Cup teams are hiring illegal aliens as drivers.

    I am still house hunting in/around Richmond Va--wait, stay with me, there's a point--realtor web had a not bad looking place on the web site for me--right area, I thought, right everything--except in BIG letters it said that "THIS HOUSE WILL MAKE YOU MONEY! NASCAR PARKING!! CHARGE HOW MUCH YOU WANT!"

    Update: NASCAR is now moved to outdoor tracks. All US sponsorships have been transferred to Subaru, Mitsubishi, and Citroen. Euro Ford is admitted. Car regulations have been modified to match rally standards.

    Do you guys realize that posting these jokes could easily lead to some other "news source" referencing them not getting this?


    I'm just waiting for the NY Times to follow up on one of these "Gold" stories, as they have proven to be so f'n clueless about the auto industry these gold stories are more credible than their typical drivel.

    @SCROGGZILLA (holding out for Jalopnik Black): I was actually referring to kicking ass literally and not on the race track (kind of like a Chuck Norris joke) so I guess that was a failed attempt at humor. Nevertheless in my mind I can't see Earnhardt driving anything other than American. As far as his finishing positions, if you look at his stats, you cannot deny he had a very successful career so he must've been doing something right. (And no I am not a huge Nascar fanboy, although I do like the sport)

    It's actually a good idea.


    Put it up to a national referendum. It's our tax dollars, we should get a vote. I would vote no.


    Ford vs. Toyota is fine. Mulally has his company moving along, he doesn't need to be on the dole. He gets to go and play outside. GM and Dodge have to stay home and do homework.


    Considering how many welfare mother cracks I've heard at NASCAR events, I think this is what they call poetic justice. Or ironic, I always get the two mixed up.

    It's hilarious to me how the uninformed seem to think Ford has something magical happening.


    They MORTGAGED everything when they could. What did they do different....they borrowed money, just like GM and Chysler are now, only when they did it the economy was good and banks were lending. It was a brilliant move, but this perception that they are so far ahead is asenine.
