    A little late to the party here but:


    Hooray.


    Rabbit was dumb. Bringing back a nameplate that is only remembered today by people 40+, then trying to sell it to the 16-24 crowd. Bad idea. It might have been okay as a "retro trimline" for the Golf or something. But not a full name change.


    Golf is universally recognized and is in the top 3 selling cars of all time.

    i seem to remember hearing this was the plan all along, the reasoning being that the MkV Golf wasn't going to be sold in the states very long (2006-2009)...

    Like most other people, I had grown accustomed to the Golf...even though it's way sillier than even "Rabbit." Either way, VW owners are so hip they'll just swap it to whatever it didn't come with.

    Okay, I never got the switch to "Rabbit" anyway (nor did I realize that the original was made near my home in western PA.) It had been the Golf for long enough for most of the target demographic to remember, anyway. Plus, isn't there are really unfortunate namesake in The Rabbit sex toy?

    It was rather odd when they gave away a rabbit shaped "Fast" totem with cars called Golf.
