Interesting how when Toyota pulls a "we'll have 150 fully electric vehicles by 2012" yesterday it gets top billing in mainstream news, but when GM announces multiple U.S. battery facilities and possibly a second extended range vehicle by 2011, there's nothing.

After understanding GM's naming scheme: Change one letter/number and produce a new car (G3, G6, G8... CTS, DTS, STS, etc). How long will it take before we see the Chevy Bolt (a mini-volt) and a Chevy Dolt (the super-sized SUV) and the Chevy Molt - the car that falls apart when you drive it off the lot.

Congress is working on a new hybrid as well. It is a flex-fuel vehicle, running on hot air, the sweat off of American taxpayer's back, and left-over smugness from Priuses/Prii?

For longevity, batteries will be stored outside for 9 months of the year. They'll go in the fridge during summer.

University of Michigan, dude. The place where most new automotive engineers come out of. The place that has a winning solar car team. The place that has a frickin nuclear reactor on its engineering campus. Yeah that school.

@wonderbrad: Ben's fixed the typo in the article, making my smart-assyness hard to detect. I'm fairly familiar with U of M--I spent 7 years in A2.

@joshman: I'm okay with the occasional typo, but that royal "we" silliness.... Damned kids and their how-to-make-a-buck-in-journalism professors. They should have more how-to-overcome-what-you're-taught classes in college.

Thank God that whole "Jalopnik final analysis" or "Jalopnik skid-mark" or whatever it was called finally fell to the wayside. I had to curtail my overall expression of grumpiness when that faded away. A little bit, anyway.
