All badassery aside, why did they choose the cliche red?

Nutjob? My brain wants to say something witty about the fine line separating the nutjob from the genius, but all I can think is, "Wow! Cool!"

Nutjobs? I think that's a little harsh. Who's more insane--he who puts a bland, anemic little 350 in one of these cars, or the man who puts the twin-6 that God intended to be there?

@WilliamG.: I say nut-jobs in the most reverential, "I'm not worthy" way possible.

@Ben Wojdyla: Also on an island of convicts "nutjob" = "innocent by means of mental defect" = "innocent" = "upper class".

Which is 'nuttier'- mating a Twin-Six into this, or doing it with the steering wheel on the wrong side?

Methinks if they could fix the exhaust they'd get a bit more punch from it- who disigned THAT monstrosity??

@beercheck - Commentin' Dirty: What I was most commenting about is the 90-deg 'bend' the pipes take INSTEAD of exiting the caps on the end- then they route all the way back under the car. That bend has GOT to make horrible back-pressure....

Holy Jesus, that may be one of the coolest things I've seen here. I've loved the idea of building some big, sick animal like this since I learned about these gigantic engines. They were only produced for a few years in the early sixties, used in GMC's biggest trucks. Replaced by diesels, of course. I think the Blastolene Brothers built something similar. I read somewhere that some of these are used to power irrigation wells in Texas, can still be found. I can just imagine what this badass hot rod sounds like at full throttle. Think P-51.

Isn't "nutjobs" implied whenever talking about Australians? Or hot rodders? Or both?

@beercheck - Commentin' Dirty: I'm deeply sorry. I meant to reference another post about this engine, but attempting to insert html in the comment caused 3/4 of the comment to be hacked off. Attempts to edit it only made it worse. Its a shame, as it was really clever.

@jdoobleh: Check the link on the 2nd paragraph, 2nd line, 3rd word above, where it says something like "In case you aren't familiar with the Twin-Six, do your homework real quick and read up about it here..."
