This is a tough one for me. On one hand, I think Azteks are hideous and I don't trust GM parts bin, but on the other hand it is supercharged and the Aztek is a pretty useful vehicle. It is kinda like a modern family truckster, people will make fun of you for driving it around, but you might pick up Christy Brinkley in it.

Actually, I'd say I despise every vehicle on that GM minivan platform. The Aztek is atrocious, the Rendezvous was a chintzy turd and the '97-'04 vans were probably the dullest, least-inspired minivans ever sold.

However, I hate the redesigned, wannabe-SUV vans more than any of them. For all the ballyhoo about how GM product has dramatically improved, these (and the Equinox) prove that GM can still crank out shit. How can you sell the same product for 8 years, put a horrible shnoz on it, change the tailight lenses and call it a new "segment-buster"? And did they really need to sell it under FOUR brand names? Of course, this horrible joke sold poorly, leading GM to brilliantly conclude that the segment was no longer viable and pulled out. Jackasses.

You can search the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale auctions and find that it (Lot 15.2). It sold for $8800, including the buyer's premium. Even a giant room full of drunk collectors would pass the pipe on this one.

This isn't nearly rare enough. Call me when the world's last Aztek is on the block.

At that time I will promptly buy it and destroy it in Clarksonian fashion.

@HammSammich: Ouch. That calls for some Neil Young.

They came dancing across the show floor
    With their minivans and tents
    Looking for a genre
    That they wanted to invent

And of course they showed at SEMA
    With body kits and chrome
In the halls they often wondered
    Why nobody took them home

@Iron-Balls McGinty: Damn it, I guess that shows what type of addled people would vote nice price.
In some ways this would be like buying the sweetest Edsel ever. Something as reviled as the Aztek will be cool, and probably valuable, at some point. If for no other reason other than those damn kids on my lawn want to screw with me.
Of course, I feel like the Aztek gets a little bit of a bad rap. While probably not something I would seek out, it was somewhat innovative, had some interesting features.
Being boring is more of a crime than being a little funky.

@Iron-Balls McGinty: I agree, which is why I think this may wind up being a nice price. The Aztek was a great concept vehicle. Its application to a production car was more than the tastes of most people could handle.

I wouldn't be surprised if Azteks are more sought after in 40 or 50 years.

@Feds: Hey! I posted that one in the last discussion on Aztekz! You obviously found more info. I had no idea it was a V8 RWD version. Somehow, that makes me like it much, much more.

I actually think that if GM had made the Aztek like that one, it might not have been as wildly reviled.

@Deartháir discusses blown trannies just for Google AdSense: THERE'S a vote of confidence, "might not have been as wildly (or widely) reviled". Someone at GM just felt like he got a compliment, of sorts.

    Crack pipe, all things considered.

But if I were eccentric and rich (halfway there already), I'd buy this just so I could have some visual aides to show my future children where--and how--the US auto industry screwed up. I'd also submit it to explain a little about SEMA, too.
