Everytime I see a Skoda on here it reminds me of a dude in High School named Nick Skroeda, whos nickname was Scrotum. Nick's first car was a 78 Olds Delta that his dad got for him in a junkyard for almost nothing. The cool thin about the car was that it didn't have a dashboard. Apparently they had just started parting the thing out when Nick's dad came along. It was that Ugly assed GM 70's brown with a dirty tan interior and it smoked like Katherine Heigl. I never saw Scrotum with a Girlfriend, I guess he can thank that Delta for helping with that. Well, that and his Acne. What were we talking about again? Oh Yeah, Skoda. um. yeah. wagon and crap.
@Number_Six: Dour,if you want dour visit Scotland a fine example would be John Logie Baird (inventer of the Television) on finishing the worlds first tv his many friends congratulated him,yet he looked rather sad. One friend said why so sad John, you just invented the tv? John replied "Aye,but there's fuck all on" Now thats dour!
@layabout now with V8 power: Much of my family is scattered between Aberdeen and the Hebrides. If it wasn't for aromatic epoxies, teen pregnancy and McEwan's, they'd all have nothing to do.
I don't know about that- Volvo and (especially) Subaru wagons have been popular here in Maine since the '70s. And no, it's got nothing to do with lesbians- they drive Chevy pickups, just like 75% of the hetero population here. AMC Eagles were also a frequent sight.
@layabout now with V8 power: Aren't they just slightly older VWs underneath? Being Canadian I know little about them other than what I read in CAR and EVO but I do quite like the look of the Leon Cupra K1:
@Scroggzilla, Murilee's Personal Attack Kaiju: Skoda did have a Rally car for the road when they were in the series a couple years back. I think Hammond even test drove it for Top Gear. But if memory serves it was a diesel where the rally car wasnt
@fodder650: The Fabia VRS was the"performance" version,it wasn't anything to do with rally though. It had a 1.9tdi engine, good to drive & they hold their value well as a used car.
@racerx: Woah, woah, and you layabout! SEATs are based upon the latest VW platforms and running gear and the LEON is available with the same DSG Gearbox that everyone creams their pants for at prices that are almost 20% cheaper than the nearest Golf or Audi A3/4. The Golf is the frump of the group: Heidi the Shotputter to Carmen Da Salsa. SEAT build quality exceeded its VW parent for a while too - rant over. Can you tell I own one?
@Scroggzilla, Murilee's Personal Attack Kaiju: Pity they haven't brought out a replacement for the vRS yet. What cracking little car: it used one of the OLDER (racerx ;))1.9 tdi engines and was great fun to drive - it was a silk purse done up like a pig's ear. A right torquey machine, ay by gum.
@The Black Bottle: They've stated that there wont be a VRS,shame. The old VRS was a damn fine car & superior to its big brother Polo. Seat still do use older Audi parts on some models. Weird,as much as i like Skoda,Seat just don't really do it for me.
Nissan has been the Chrysler of the Japanese automotive industry for years, with frequently weird exterior designs, engines that are usually slightly larger than the competition and dubious build quality.
Now comes further proof. Anybody remember the Louis Vuitton Special Edition Chrysler PT Cruiser?

But, at least now we know where all of Pontiac' surplus body cladding has gone.
Anyone know if this would be built on the old A3 platform?

I would not say that it is nearly as attractive as the Subaru or Volvo wagons it was inspired by, though.
