Buschur Racing is going to support it.. verifies that it is infact a 4B11T (same as evo) and it can handle 29psi of boost.

Welcome to the new AE86..
Add to that the fact that it's a GEMA engine used for the 4cyl, you can probably swap in a caliber SRT 2.4L engine, or an EVO 2.0L and it'll just work.
Still.. the 3.8L v6 packs quite a punch.. 310hp is nothing to sneeze at.

Hyundai, please fire your brand managers. Or at least send them to Detroit, where their ideas would be a step up from the status quo.

Last time I checked the only really high output 2.0 turbo is the Evo; it does not get anything close to 30 mpg highway.

Now if only it were an I-6 instead of a V-6...

@six: I know, even us knuckle dragging low tech pushrod infatuated 'murkins can get upwards of 300bhp and beyond from said engine configuration.

So.. a 2.4L Caliber block with a mitsu head and set of performance cams, along with a good diesel sized turbo.. and your getting somewhere north of 500hp, with as much torque to boot..
Parts bin engineering... sometimes the combos you can come up with are magical :)

I saw the Genesis coupe at the Chicago auto show and I was duly impressed. I would drive this car but once again, there's the H on the hood and I would be embarrassed to say the word.
So, my questions is this; at what point do you put aside the "image" and drive what you know (even if your friends don't) is a really GOOD car and so much better than the name suggest?

As an aside, you can always pick up some BMW emblems from a junkyard. ;-)

For me there's a price point of diminishing returns. It works for me, I don't care too much what others think. Yeah I take a little heat for running what amounts to a running junkyard for most people but I get to laugh at them when they come back with stories of $900 brake jobs. Because they got a little propeller on the badge.
It all evens out.

I thought you had turboed a beater SL2 or something!

My winter car is a rusty 1995 Geo Prizm with a header (only because the manifold broke-common) and full moon hubcaps. It has a hula pig on the dash and a real coffee can clamped to the end of the exhaust pipe in a lame attempt to make fun of ricers.
It's probably safe to say pride isn't my biggest vice.

Pictures of the GeeYo - @TampaRon: Life could be much worse than snooty people making fun of your Pontiac or Hyundai... you could be me.

I don't like to put all my eggs in one basket. I wouldn't know how to act if I could only have one car.

And you're absolutely correct about the 'yota/Saturn thing. I like cars that I like. Is the Avalon a wonderful, relieable means of conveyance? Yes. I'm not going to complain about 200+HP and 30mpg. But the Redline just does it for me. I also own a Samurai and a project '84 Ranger (i'm going to SVO the 2.3 in it...)

I had an 82 S-10 with that 2.8 and a four-speed. All the power of a bad 4-cylinder and the gas mileage of a larger 6. One of the top five worst mass-produced engines ever, IMHO
10/31/08
@crankcase: Thanks, it's my version of exotic hardware... ;)
10/31/08
Seriously, though, if you can find a Samurai cheap, grab it. Easy as heck to work on.
10/31/08
I live in Michigan. Not many Samurai have survived the salt. They didn't last long up here.

You know what pisses the shit out of me? That they don't sell the Colorado with the inline five and a manual. I can't stand that; it could be a cool little truck with 2wd, the 3.7, a short bed and a five or six speed. Lame.

Honestly, if that Mahindra or whatever gets brought over from India i'm going to give it a fair look. 300 ft-lbs? Pretty good for a compact.

Obligatory gripe: The lightest one--the coupe with the 4-banger--is over 3300#. That's how much my iron-block V6 family sedan weighs.
