Ford CFO Lewis Booth, as you'll see below, is particularly excited about the prospects and not at all worried about the possibility for General Tso-flavored Swedish meatballs.

Booth, in a statement today says,

"Ford believes Geely has the potential to be a responsible future owner of Volvo and to take the business forward while preserving its core values and the independence of the Swedish brand"

Yes, because any time we see a Chinese restaurant offering Swedish meatballs, we think we're getting the heights of culinary delight.

Of course that can't be any worse than when we see Swedish meatballs at Denny's — which, come to think of it, we've been seeing since 1999's sale of Volvo Cars to Ford for $6.45 billion. [via AutoNews]

<![CDATA[Geely One Step Closer To Owning Volvo?]]> According to Chinese auto industry rag, Auto.Sohu, as translated by China Car Times, Ford has already struck a deal with Chinese automaker Geely for Volvo. We're highly skeptical but maybe they know something we don't. [China Car Times via Auto.Sohu]

<![CDATA[Chinese Tuner Builds Ferrari "Ch-Enzo" Out Of Geely Coupe]]> We've seen our fair share of fake Ferrari Enzos and Chinese clones, but this Chinese-built copy of a $650,000 Ferrari Enzo made from a Geely Beauty Leopard is a first for us. We dub thee — "Chen-Zo."

The computer generated image in the gallery below gives an idea as to what the creators envisioned. The rest of the photos clearly show how not close they were. Aside from the F1-style fender, the car looks more like Enzo Ferrari's nightmares than an actual Ferrari Enzo. Still, points for dreaming big. [Gaibar via Carscoop]

<![CDATA[Geely ET925 Experimental Truck: A More Attractive Honda Ridgeline]]> The Geely Emgrand ET925 Experimental Truck, a Honda Ridgeline-esque unibody truck, debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show today. Don't tell Honda, but we think the styling on the Geely is actually better.

The ET925 is a concept vehicle at this point, but it portrays a platform likely to see production. The truck gets a plastic liner in the back and some nice exhaust tips, but other than these details we don't have much information on the vehicle. No matter what it looks like, we're betting the interior still smells like hot chemical death.

<![CDATA[Geely iG Fantastic Concept: Solar Cells Meet Micro Car]]> With a profile reminiscent of a Fiat 500, the Geely iG concept strikes out on its own with hood-mounted solar panels and a McLaren F1-like seating arrangement. Then there's the single gull wing door. Fantastic.

<![CDATA[6.) Geely PU Rural Nanny]]> The Geely PU Rural Nanny has both a hilarious mistranslation and a funny acronym. We assume PU stands for "pick up" but we have no assumptions about what Rural Nanny could mean. Is it a babysitter for the Chinese farmer? Is it someone who takes care of pastoral lands?

<![CDATA[10.) Geely Beauty Leopard]]> The Geely Beauty Leopard is doubly misleading because the little coupe is neither quick like an actual Leopard or particularly beautiful. Despite a name most Americans would find slightly effeminate, the Beauty Leopard is a hit in China.

<![CDATA[4.) Geely King Kong]]> No one has more fun giving vehicles ridiculous names than Geely, and the Geely King Kong is no different. Even though it's essentially a small four-door hatchback, which is nothing like King Kong, it is named after the jungle beast. Also, King Kong is resilient and this little hatch isn't even close.

<![CDATA[Geely GE: Go Stag In Style]]> The Geely GE may seem like a Rolls Royce ripoff, but it has one-upped the luxe brand by having one less. The backseat? It features just one, throne-like seat.

The Geely GE is expected to be the first major luxury offering from Geely's elegant sub-brand ENGLON (which stands for London, England) if it ever goes into production. Modeled after the Rolls Royce Phantom in a peculiarly Chinese way, the GE even has its own hood ornament... though we can't be sure what it is.

If it does see production we imagine it'll only be for high-ranking members of the Chinese Politburo Steering Committee. Lonely, lonely members.

<![CDATA[Geely GT Tiger: Chinese Super Car Gets Interior, New Name]]> The surprisingly sexy Geely GT concept, the most attractive Chinese car ever, is back as a fully working prototype with a real interior and perhaps a new name.

The Geely GT is both uniquely Chinese and, somehow, actually unique. We could pick out some minor design influences, but the vehicle still stands on it's own as something special. However, when we last saw the GT it was just a shell. Things have changed.

The addition of working doors and a real interior has us hoping they actually could produce it, possibly as the Geely Tiger, sometime in the future. We'd heard rumors it could be called the Emgrand GT, but the floormats say "Tiger" so we're going to go with that name as a real possibility mostly because it makes sense if it'll be offered alongside the Beauty Leopard.

<![CDATA[Geely GE Phantom: Like A Rolls Royce, Only Ya Know, Not]]> The 2009 Shanghai Auto Show's just hours away and here's the first unveil. It's the Geely GE and as you can tell, it's a carbon copy of the Rolls Royce Phantom. [autohome.com.cn via TheTycho.com]

<![CDATA[Geely Carpet Bombs Shanghai Auto Show With New Cars]]> Geely's getting its craziness in gear for this year's Shanghai Auto Show with more new cars than you can shake chopsticks at. You thought the fake Phantom was the only zinger? You ain't seen nothing.

We've previously given you a glimpse at the ET925 Experimental Truck, as well as the GE Rolls Phantom-ripoff, but they've finally given us a look into their entire Shanghai Auto Show lineup which includes, yet again, the Geely GT, though this time with a full blown interior.

We can't blame them for not trying and we're entirely curious what this newborn automotive landscape will look like in 20 years. [thetycho via geely]

<![CDATA[Geely GT Could See Production As Emgrand GT]]> Rumors are surfacing Geely will show a production version of the striking Geely GT from last year's Beijing Motor Show, possibly called the Emgrand GT, at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show.

In addition to bringing the Emgrand GT, or possibly EM Grand GT, the much weirder rumor is of a car called the Shanghai EngLon, with EngLon being a mashup of England-London. Should the Geely Emgrand GT actually be a production version of the GT show car it'll probably be toned down just a bit with performance nowhere in the realm of the athletic styling. [The Tycho]

<![CDATA[Geely GE Rips Off Phantom, Makes Room For One Imperial Emperor]]> Made a fortune by selling decadent Americans lead-tainted toys and bootlegged DVDs? This Geely GE is the ride for you; doubling a Phantom's luxury by offering half the seating capacity for less money.

The throne-like rear seat sits on plush red carpet underneath a starry night sky - the latter ripped straight from the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.

No word on what engine underpowers the big Geely, but expect it to make an official premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 20. [via TheTycho]

<![CDATA[WSJ: Geely To Bid For Volvo, Attempt To Cook General Tso's Swedish Meatballs]]> The WSJ is reporting this morning Chinese automaker Geely will likely submit a bid to acquire Volvo from Ford next week. Glad to see they've caught up with the Chinese press and the Detroit News.

Geely Automobile Holdings is likely to submit a bid later this month to acquire Ford Motor's luxury Volvo car brand, two people familiar with the situation said. Offers for the Swedish unit of Ford are due to be submitted as early as next week, and as late as the end of the third week of March, the knowledgeable people said. In addition to Geely, there are at least three other possible bidders, one of which is also a Chinese company, according to one of the people. We're still wondering what Chinese-flavored Volvo will taste like anyway. [via WSJ]

<![CDATA[New Geely Panda May Be Made Of Bamboo]]> Chinese automaker Geely has shown off its GT Concept, a formula racer car, and even a London Taxi. Now they've got this, the new Geely Panda. While the name makes more sense than it does on a Fiat Panda, we're pretty sure we prefer the Italian car. But don't be confused by the name into thinking this is just another Chinese knock-off, because if the unique styling is any indication, it's not trying to imitate anything — save for maybe a startled fish.
