Example #1: you buy a Tucson (EPA avg = 23mpg)
12,000miles / 23mpg = 521gallons
521gallons x $1.49 9/10 = $781.5
Balance on the card = $781.50, spend more than that and the card will be rejected.
Example #2: you buy an elantra touring (EPA average = 28mpg)
12,000miles / 28mpg = 428.5gallons
428.5gallons * 1.49 9/10 = $642.00
Thus the worse MPG car you buy - the more money you save from this plan.

And with this scheme, you would pay a buck forty-nine for the first year, based on this, because they'd be paying the other half (it's edging back up toward three).
I'm not sure you're right, but if you are, that is very poorly thought out on their part.
I read the blurry fine print. That's basically it. Holy shit, guys, come on. It's a shame you'd take more of a hit reselling a new Hai-oon-di than you would make on this plan...
