Unless he's got a really, really rugged delivery route, I would think that the florist would be better served by an E Klasse Touring 4matic (the one with the trick slide-out load floor in the rear).
That being said, perhaps he wanted to use the G-Wagon after-hours as a ride to his Leather-and-Levi club get-togethers...
The G is one of my all time favorite cars. cSee several special versions below. There is also a 6 wheel version somewhere, but I cant find a picture right now.
The 1st-gen G-wagen is probably the ultimate combination of everything Mercedes-Benz used to do right -- unparalleled off-road capability, brick-shithouse reliability, and it's so-ugly-it's-cute!
I'd definitely rock the panel version in the lead picture if it had the OM617 5-cylinder diesel. Then I could start my own delivery business: Bruce Express.
@Tomsk is all about Murlopnik weekends!: I agree. The windowless, two door panel is the tastiest of the bunch, with so much of what makes the G-wagen cool, and none of what makes us roll our eyes.
I see G-Wagens carrying kids to soccer practice sometimes, and it makes me sad inside. Mercedes spent all that time designing an uber-ute, and then some tool buys one for his wife so that she can pretend their family is a NATO special ops team.
I'm quite close to a Canadian Forces base, so I see G-wagens all the time. They just look... right somehow, in full military garb. Like they're happy trucks, because that's what they were fucking made for, not for ferrying around a bleach-blonde trophy wife with synthetic breasts.
@Gearhead_42: @SlowMo: Fair enough, point taken. I, too, would like to have both.
I just don't want the G-wagen to be allowed to be driven by the trophy-wife. It's a fucking military vehicle. It belongs in the middle of fucking nowhere, pulling itself out of bogs with a winch, not parked outside of a nail salon.
The G-truck reminds me of the yet-unbuilt Jeep Scrambler. I can't, for the life of me, understand what's holding that process up. Does Chrysler NOT want a profitable vehicle to sell?

Wow, God must have helped with the design of that one.
I would definitely not turn down a G-wagon. And my wife would think its more "practical" with its 4 doors.

So when to we get something on the other famous M-B truck, the UNIMOG?
