Other than the
PT Cruiser PCH Edition, the big news out of the Chrysler shindig this morning next to Duggan's Irish Pub on Woodward Avenue was the answer to apparently one of the most asked questions on the "Ask Dr Z" website. Although we were hoping more for the answer to the question, "Do you give free mustache rides?" — the question Dr. Z's minions answered today was still pretty good — "How can I win a Dodge Challenger, or another Chrysler Group product?" The press release below the jump can give you all the details how you can win one of nine Chrysler Group cars — three Jeep Wrangler Unlimiteds, three Chrysler Sebrings, and yes, three Dodge Challengers — we were more impressed with the hooplah surrounding the giveaway — including the dubiously legal driving of a non-street-legal car down a small stretch of Woodward Ave. In fact, so impressed were we, we dropped the pictures into a gallery for your enjoyment — and probable evidence for prosecution by the Royal Oak Police Department.

By way of Toyota's own Open Road Blog is word of a new scam using Toyota's name in vain to obtain financial info for use in identity theft and raiding bank accounts. The scam involves a letter and sometimes an included check branded with Toyota's logo. A couple of different forms of the scam are circulating — one of them involves a mystery-shopper program. Another is a about a lottery awarding free money and a Toyota vehicle. And let's be clear here — if you fell for this, we've got a Nigerian lottery we'd like to discuss with you.
