    OH COME ON!

With all the other constructors gone Renault had a shot at WINNING A RACE for once.

So much for making me proud. #f1

@Arcweld Your Soul: Renault did win a couple of races.... in the back of a car driver by a German for an Austrian energy drink company. #f1

I haven't seen this much high dollar pulling out since I spent a weekend at Club Med.

    Everyone is jumping ship. #f1

Alonso was the only reason Renault did as well as they did this season - which wasn't very well at all. He won't be there next year. So Renault might find themselves mixing it up with Force India for last place honors.

Or, they might be considering making an offer to Trulli. #f1

KERS is crazy. I can't believe they have a "turbo" button again. If life is going to keep aping video games, I'd like a "save point" and a reset button.

@jduffy13: I can only speak for myself but,i do have a girlfriend & a beautiful one at that,i also have a good social life & although i must admit F1 is in a sharp decline it's still good to watch drivers at their peak driving some of the most technically advanced cars at high speed against each other. I still think motorsport peaked in the 80's,Group B rally, turbo F1 cars & Touring cars that i'd want to own. It may be on the decline, but something is better than nothing.

I hate to put a downer on things, but F1's prime is long gone. The passion has gone from the drivers & it's all about money, when was the last time a driver ran down the pits to punch a rival that wrecked his race? Probably the James Hunt era,the last true character was Irvine & by then the P.C. brigade were scared shitless that he'd speak his mind. Little Hitler Bernie & Mad Max are just control freaks with big egos.

The odd race may contain some watching pleasure, but even a blind pig can find the occasional triffle.

    @layabout now with V8 power:

I disagree. One of my wife's favorite F1 Moments of all-time was the smack-to-the-helmet that Schumacher laid onto Takuma Sato after he punted the Ferrari off track.

The passion is still there, but it its tempered by the fact that ALL these guys are serious hard-core professionals in a way that the drivers of old never were. James Hunt and his contemporaries were never in the kind of physical shape that a current F1 pilot must be in, and they certainly didn't have the same array of technical challenges to deal with either.

Just because the margins are slimmer now than they used to be, doesn't mean these guys aren't all hyper competitive.

@MikeHerbst: I disagree,Jackie Stewart is one of the best ever drivers & he'd drink most men under the table. Senna was better than any current driver,as were many others of previous generations. To think back not so many years ago drivers won by skill not technical & safety back up.

Rule changes each season are killing the sport, that added with Bernie & Max's egos.

So I wonder what they do with all the old F1 cars? Maybe there should be some kind of low-level racing league that uses last year's equipment. Or they could sell them for $500 so we could have a couple ringers at LeMons.

The KERS description was fairly helpful. Morphing wings and body bits a little less so. Red Bull and Toro Rosso did remarkably well last year, it'll be interesting to see if they can make more progress now.

Red Bull is one of the best things to happen to F1 in a long time. Not only with their driver development program, but also their in-depth look at F1. They actually care about keeping the fans informed.
