I'm in active discussions with our Chief Trademark Counsel to see what the real story here is.
Next time, Jalopnik, I'd appreciate a little more professional journalism.

"Oh, shit, I am so sorry for us not monitoring our asshat lawyers more closely"

"I'm in active discussions with our Chief Trademark Counsel to see what the real story here is."
Because if that's all you got, I'd like to point you to this line in the post which pretty much says just that:
"More than likely it's just another case of the lawyers not understanding what the value of positive PR is."
But let me also be clear there's no "professional courtesy" quid pro quo associated with grabbing drinks with me and Wes in LA. Professional courtesy comes with being a professional. Part of that includes sending me an e-mail if you've got something you'd like added to a story instead of being an asshat in the comments about a post where we haven't misstated or been wrong on anything we're reporting.

recently at my local watering hole, i overheard a guy hitting on the girl next to me. he was a pimp, since he used to work for ford, etc. she said, "oh, i work for Roush." he replied, "what's Roush?"

Sad, and stupid really.

"To whom it may concern:
I am writing concerning your recent legal threats toward online communities of Ford enthusiasts. These attacks are aimed directly toward loyal followers of your brand, and avid supporters of your products. These actions are unwise and can only cause damage to your customers confidence in your company. Many people, myself included, will reconsider any future purchases of any of your products, based entirely on this unwise and extremely foolish act. Surely you agree that attacking your customers is a poor decision on your part. For the sake of your business, I ask you to please reconsider immediately.
Thank you."
Kinda sez it all, donit?

It's also saddening that Ford doesn't understand the value of brand promotion among enthusiasts. In times like these, Ford should be doing everything it can to retain those loyal and willing enough to purchase and promote its products.
