I'm fine with this technology, as long as there is a deactivation switch for those times that I want to roll my car or get in a serious accident.
But really, it doesn't sound like it's taking the steering wheel out of our hands (yet). Isn't it just using GPS to gather extra data to make stability control do whatever it does better? It sounds more like enhanced stability control to me, as opposed to remote control satellite computer driving.

@Shamoononon: I see you edited away your response, and my long-winded reply became completely worthless (as opposed to mostly worthless).
But I will say that I had to read the press release a few times, and I can't tell if it describes the technology poorly or is purposefully vague. I read it to mean it is "accident avoidance" once you lock up the brakes or make the big swerve, and not taking control of your car as you are driving your merry way down the road. But I could be wrong.
@tempesjo: I apologize for the edit. I was going back and forth in thought. Ultimately I realized that I just did not know enough to comment, but I'd be more than happy to read what you came up with.
@Shamoononon: No problem. I'm not sure I knew enough to comment either, and I probably should have followed your lead and edited my original post to say "Happy Friday!" instead.
Can it read pace notes? I'd really like to hear HAL 9000 reading:
Front Main Control 1, 100, straight to a kink left, severity 2
100, kink right severity 2
200, square left
50, Jump maybe.
500, flat.
300, I wouldn't do that Dave.
Until one of these Manufacturers perfect a "Oral stimulation to the Mid-Section" device located directly under the steering wheel. They can keep all the fancy technology to make my driving better.

1. Lots of young, inexperienced people.
2. Half the drivers are drunk at all times.
3. The area is full of girls jogging 8-9 months per year.
Those three right there were responsible for every near miss I ever had in school. War Eagle.
