    This article illustrates why -- for all their effort-- the Japanese have never cracked the full size truck market in the US. US manufactures know their customers and are constantly innovating to fill even the smallest niches. The guy buying a work truck, knows his wants and needs; his wants are very specific, and his needs are non-negotiable. One look at the permutations of capability, color, options, power-trains (including diesels and hybrids) of the domestic vs import brands, and it is clear that Detroit will give no quarter in the full size truck business.

    I can't help but wonder how different the last three decades would have been, had Detroit had been this serious about the automobile business. #fordf150svtraptor

    In my book, Ford just surpassed themselves for ugliest grille on a production vehicle.

    First was the E-350, then the MK-whatever SUV heap-O-ugly, and recently the MKX, which is borderline caricature.

    Wow, that was like reading War and Peace. Except it was Ford and MoPar.
    Both of these monsters are far removed from my daily activities, but I have a friend with a big red Super Duty and I was really impressed with its brute+creature comforts set up. What's in my future is a ratted up pre-72, most likely, but if I win the lottery, I'll definitely purchase one of these to carry my money around in. #fordf150svtraptor

    Several Years ago the Dodge Power Wagon was/is the closest I’ve ever come to owning a new vehicle, the killer for me was it was not optioned with a diesel.

    Does anyone know why there is no diesel option with the Power Wagon? #fordf150svtraptor

    @Flathead Smith: That's easy. The truck is designed as a go anywhere offroader. The Cummins would add too much weight making it the truck less capable. Not saying you can't 4 wheel in a diesel but the lighter the bette. Why doesn't NASCAR use a diesel?

    But yeah, if I needed a truck, it would be a 2nd or 3rd vehicle, and given the choice here, I'd go for the Dodge. #fordf150svtraptor

    Easy, I'd take both. The Power Wagon for Monday-Friday, 9-5 hauling and towing. The Raptor for Saturday-Sunday mud bogging and sand-duning.

    @myasir: It's a pickup truck, of course it's tacky. And I think the Ford looks a thousand times better than that Dodge, which looks indistinguishable from any garden variety '94 Dodge pickup. #fordf150svtraptor

    @myasir: If you want something a little more subtle, you can always go with black instead of orange (or red, in this case). It tones down the grill and such as well. Also, you can check the "delete graphics" option, too. #fordf150svtraptor

    Eww, another 4 door pickup truck. I'd much rather have a Crew Cab Raptor or whatever Ford calls its truck with the space behind the front seats. Just enough space to fit a cooler, a couple bags, and give some recline-ability in case I need to sleep in the truck.

    Over the last 30 years, I've owned 4 F-150s. I lived in the northwest and owned property. Great trucks, worked hard, took a beating. My last truck was a Crew Cab Lariat. Every single option. It was amazing. I moved to Las Vegas and now have no use for the truck. I sold it and bought a hard top convertible. No use for a big truck. Dammit all to hell!! Now Ford comes out with this and I have to have one. Good bye Lexus. Hello Ford. I've missed you. Mine will be a 6.2 though

    I took the Ford Rouge factory tour in Dearborn about three weeks ago, and there were a few Raptors going through the line then. Of course you're not allowed to take photos in the plant, but what I saw looked pretty nice. We just saw the bodies going through though; no look at what goes under the hood or the suspension.
    The other thing I noticed on that tour...there wasn't a single yellow truck in the line that day; everything was either red, black, silver, or maroon for the most part.
