    @FTGDWolverineEdition'09: I'm sure there must be people who do, but they don't admit it. I checked the Hayne's website, and it assures customers that the PT Cruiser manual is sent to you in plain brown paper packaging. #haynesmanual

    Dad has several lithograph type ones with the individual systems mapped out for Citroen DS. They are definitely art and worth of the nice frame job he got for them. #haynesmanual

    I love these. They bring back that same sort of Christmas Morning feeling I used to get every time I would get a new (used) vehicle, which was inevitably a fixer-upper, and I'd immediately go get the Haynes or Chilton for it. I'd go over that thing page by page to figure out what projects I would take on first. I'd plan a month of sundays around cleaning the carbs, replacing the drum brakes, taking care of the timing problems... and for some reason that got me more excited about my new car than anything; the idea that with some elbow grease (and a lot of real grease) it would eventually be running like a champ.

    These are definitely on the pricey side, but as soon as they make one for a 1968 Chevy Malibu or a 1978 Honda 550 Four, I'm getting it.

    It seems to me that the modifications can all be easily undone, and that's what I find important. Pull either or both Ford ovals (the lower one gives it an unfortunate '80s vibe), maybe find something other than the slot mags for it to roll on (though they look okay), and go.
