    Fuck that. Ford Tempo GL, $600, insurance is as cheap as you can get, and it will go on forever. Anyone who lost their job and is driving a brand spankin' new Saturn Aura has NO sympathy from me. Not that they care, when they are driving a $24,000 new car.

    America sucks.

    @Ford Tempo Fanatic: Plus, driving a Ford Tempo to interviews will make potential employers think you really need the job. Driving a new Saturn will just make them think you're stupid.

    @FromaBuick6: Do I sense a hint of sarcasm? When you arrive to your destination (namely your place of work) in the stately, chrome-laden vintage 1989 Ford Tempo or the elegant yet sporting 1992 Mercury Topaz Luxury Touring Sedan (or LTS, for short), you don't just arrive. You let the entire area know that you have graced them with your prestigious presence.

    Simply by owning the rolling artwork, sculpted by artiste Jack Telnack, almost guarantees you all your heart's desires. Whether it be the women, the job, or fame and fortune.

    Here's an even better idea. Buy a car you can actually afford, pay cash. You can get reliable transportation for the cost of a good down payment on a new car. I'm thinking $3000 is about the starting price for a "good" car. It might not be pretty or fast but shold be fairly reliable for 50-100k miles. If you are more mechanically inclined and willing to live without things like working power windows, paint that isn't peeling, or maybe A/C that price could be halved.

    So, if I'm planning on losing my job because I spend way too much time on Jalopnik, I should go get my new Camaro in the next couple weeks?

    Also, what is the deal with protection in case you die? If I die, I don't care about my credit rating and my wife can just let the car get repossessed. The house is in my name, too, so she can just mail the keys to the bank.

    @engineerd lusts after Diddle's Fiesta:

    If you currently have a car payment......than yes you should.

    This actually would make the most sense for people who have a payment. They could sell/trade in and spend savings on a car with no payment, but that savings is probably pretty key for eating, or beer. This gives 9-12 months of "free ride" which would be key in job hunting.

    So yes, let's talk about which Camaro you should be getting.

    I have my own Payment Protection plan. I give you the loan. You don't pay me, you get one warning. After one day, I double the price. After two days, I send my guys after you to convince you to pay me. After that, if you don't pay me, you'll be six feet under.
