Here is a question for anyone who may know: Can you legally REGISTER this car in America? The reason I ask is that I have orders to be re-stationed in Germany, and I have a strong feeling that this car would be thoroughly available in Deutschland. My question is about registration, because, in three years, I will no longer be stationed in Germany, and will most likely be stationed back in the good 'ol US of A. I think you can see where I am going with this. I would upgrade the Speed3 for this, no problem.
Hummm, quick but if you watch the whole vid it really seems he is driving a little on the conservitive side. The second half he was pushing it a little but ill bet theres more in that car.
@Sixpackdan:
I think the video is deceptive. This guy is extremely smooth which is why it makes his driving look smooth. If the driving looked more dramatic he'd probably end up posting a slower time. But you never know.
Dear Ford,
Why in the name of all that is holy won't you let me buy this American car in America? I have the income, I have the car and I need this car. I want you (ford) to have my money. Why don't you want my money? Please don't make me buy a Scooby-roo.
Sincerly yours,
Maxx
@Maxx_Needs_A_V8: Cuz you're an American. You whine all the time. And you waver worse than a 16yr old teenage girl. You never actually do what you say (My pal GM told me about the Pontiac GTO debacle). And you're too cheap. More about quantity than quality. And you are content at plodding along at your slow floaty pace on freeways as long as you have AC/Cruise Control/Heated seats/ Heated mirrors/iPOD connectivity/SatNav/ Cup holders - Lots of them. And you could care less about shifting your own gears.
And all (most) of roads are straight. And potholed in my home town of Dearborn. So you will then complain about ride quality.
So please WTH do you think I would try to burn myself by bringing it over to you guys? I don't want to lose the money left and get Obama-ized along with my other 2 retarded cousins.
@Formerlythegreatestdriver: Wow.. just wow. While that might reflect most of the starbuck's swilling non-caf 1/2 caf vanilla mochalatachino swilling soccer moms and cuckholded husbands in amerika it doesn't describe me.
Go shit in your catbox not mine.

You just answered your own question buddy. The key word here is "Most."
@layabout SAVE THE JALOP 9 !: Obviously you're not an American. We need to invade you guys too. Heard there is some oil north of your god forsaken island.
From the outside shots the driver has a full face white helmet while the in-car camera shows Horst with an open faced helmet... me thinks the Stig has been moonlighting in Germany as a driving-double.
@jip1080: Woah! You're right. You think they shot the in-car on a commentary lap? I sure as hell couldn't speak German and drive fast at the same time.
@Mooberry: Also, I seem to recall that the theoretical price tag on an imported US-spec Focus RS would be prohibitive. Now, if they started building them in the U.S....
@theeastbaykid: I asked in a chat about the chances of getting RS-spec cars in the US lineup earlier this year (citing Fiesta and Focus RS interest) and Mulally himself said things were in the works. Personally, I'd rather see a Fusion RS (Ecoboost 4cyl/5spd/AWD) than a 300hp Focus, but Ford isn't forgetting that it has a performance reputation for non V8s.
@e30m3:
Interestingly, the Focus ST is available in the US as a Volvo C30. It's the same platform and the same engine. It's not the RS, but it's decent nonetheless.
I've heard the argument from someone at Ford that bringing the Focus to the US is cost-prohibitive. But I think that's just nonsense. The C30 starts at under $24k which is not bad, but a Civic Si starts at about $22k.
I think the real concern is that they don't believe Americans will be willing to spend that much on a compact car with a Ford badge. The current Focus starts at $16k.
People say they want cars like this, but they're offered and few buy them. Hatchbacks seem to be a particularly tough sell. Americans still seem too attached to SUVs, hence all the stupid crossovers.
