Half that price would be a bit of a stretch, especially since it's a slushbox. Pass the pipe.

I'd rather get a beaten up one, swap in a Northstar, have the interior redone and still have some cash left.

It astounds me that this is in my state... one the same side of the mountains as this place: [www.parkplaceltd.com]

For half that money, even 2/3rds, it'd be a Nice Price because it's an '88 (rather than an earlier model)...

Is the Fiero the most recent mid-engined American car? Can anybody think of another one?

@Dwegmull, preview free since March 2009.: The most recent one built in large numbers, yes. Plenty of limited-run cars have been made since then:

    -Ford GT

    -Saleen S7

    -SSC Ultimate Aero

    -Mosler MT900

    -etc.

This falls into a grey area--not unlike that horrible interior color--for the true, hardcore Fiero addict? Sweet trip. For a sane person? 40k will get you a lot of other things you'd rather have.

$40,000 will buy you an actual 21 year old, if you do your shopping right. She might even not be roughed up too much by her Serbian captors -er- agents.

Before Pontiac was renowned and reviled for plastic body cladding, they built a car whose entire body was plastic body cladding.

$40,000 for the ultimate boob job? Sorry, as much as I like and even respect Pontiac for striking out on their own with the Fiero, there's never going to be enough intoxicants in the world to make me part with so much dough for so little go.

Crack pipe, especially since it's an automatic. The dealer is trolling for suckers with the claim that it'll be worth "6 digit figures in the next 10 years or less!". Not going to happen, even at Barrett-Jackson. Are Plymouth Prowlers (rarer than '88 Fieros) worth six or even five figures now?
