    I remember back when this car first came out I read the review in Car and Driver, back before I came across Jalopnik and I still got my fix from car magazines. The author remarked that the buttresses were useful for skitching.


    This is quite an amazing car. Kinda like a high-end Italian Corvette, or a throwback to the amazing front V12 touring cars from the 60s and 70s.

    I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking the 599 was overtly Daytona-esque. I heart the 599 immensely, even more so now that I know that Black Francis might reside under the C-arch. Mr O, I now trigger the heart clicky to you, for the well written article with a Dada-ish dose of Pixies.


    You're on your way to the level of esteem I hold for other Jalops; some of whom would not sleep lonely in jail.

    I've always thought the 599 is a stunner. The 575 was beautiful as well.


    I won't sign my name under the part stating the Ferraris all look different. For instance in the "entry-level" Ferraris, you can detect similarity in the last two pairs of new ones. The 430 resembles the 360 quite a bit and the 355 and 348 look quite like each other.


    But the fact that they always bring back something from an old Ferrari, say 30 years older, and put that on the new one again is just fantastic. For instance the scoop above the rear wheel of the 430 and the old 250 Le Mans from 1963. Unmistakably similar and on cars from completely different eras. Just brilliant.

    They're awesome with that. Like the way the shark gills on the California also nod back to the 250 GT California Spyder. Or how the 599 is like the Daytona in many subtle ways.

    Peter, keep it coming. I like how you pull in seemingly unrelated ideas that turn out to be quite pertinent by the time you get to the point. Your style reminds me of a commentator, named Andrei Codrescu, heard on NPR.


    Did they invite you to Fiorano to drive the 599 or did you just get to poke the camera at the naughty bits?

    I don't think there has been a Ferrari that I have objected to, ever. Oh sure, there might be the initial shock of seeing something different from previous models, but they quickly grow on you.


    It might have something to do with the performance. Or the name Ferrari. Or a bit of fanboyism. Or all three, combined into a medly of Ferrarmanboyism.


    I like that...Ferrarmanboyism.

    @evoCS sends 'em over the moon when he dons pantaloons: You dirty dirty man.


    The manboyism, in this case, indicates that while you may be a full grown adult male ("man"), this car brings out the boy in you. Therefore, when looking at a Ferrari you become a "manboy".


    The same thing happens when I look at boobies.

    I love this car. I am a fan of Ferrari as well, however I still think this car looks too much like a Supra.


    That said, I would rather have the Ferrari.


    Oh damn, the Supra can now be to this Ferrari what the Chrysler 300 was to Bentley. You know, the people that said "I bought this car because it looks like a Bentley, but it was cheaper. It is jsut as good though." --who you kidding.
