Ford, what you've just designed is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent design were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational vehicle. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having seen it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

    @Oldcarguy:

    Hmmm
What Im about to say.. even astounds me.

Someone could actually add a couple of the hockey stick emblems for that Charger *above* change the paint to something wild n crazy and sell it as the only Dodge Chargercamino.

Yes.. it would be the only Dodge Charger to be Elcamino-ized. And SPECIAL paint, and GRAPHICS!

Then again, the only one with a 2.2 I4.

And ya know.. I actually might buy the Charger - Camino for 10g (15 is just crazy).

God, I want to get one of those and make it into a Rampage Shelby. My mother had an '85 Charger Shelby, blue and white... man.

This really is an answer to a question nobody asked.

To wit: "Hey, how about taking a blank malaise sedan, no styling whatsoever, an make it a 'chero?"

@NovaloadMissesPolar: I don't know, the styling isn't any blander than anything else out of Detroit in '81, I don't think.. And it makes more sense than the previous generation of Ranchero. (A pickup with a nose that's longer than the bed? Brilliant!) And they had to've lost some customers to GM's (X-body?) downsized-Malibu Camino by not offering this car themselves.

Want it to replce my clapped out S-10 winter beater. However, you'd have to cut 10 k off of the price. Crack pipe it is.

Also, this one loses character points for having a real horn button...on the early sedans and wagons, you activate the horn by pushing IN on the turn signal stalk. Try getting that one right when some cell phone sweetie pulls out 20 feet in front of you.

Question, how difficult is it to tear all of that smog pump garbage off that engine and simplify that horrible snakehouse in the engine bay? You could still make the engine run, yes? I'd imagine it'd run better, but malaisetech is foreign to me.

@BSAKat: I'm sure it would be possible- Mopar guys I know regularly excise all the "Lean Burn" and related garbage from their late-'70s 318s and 360s with no ill effects.. And with the 200 I6, you'd have almost unlimited partscars going back to 1964.

@BSAKat: The trick is to block off all the unneeded vacuum lines while keeping the needed ones and blocking off the air pump lines without breaking any of the old stuff off in the heads. I've had a couple desmogged cars with varying success.

When we desmogged the Cutlass it immediately started blowing oil past the rings and out the breathers. Still not sure if all the smog stuff was masking the problem or if we helped cause the problem by desmogging it.

End result was the same - 455 Cutlass - woohoo!

We pulled all the stuff off an old 2.8 S-10 Blazer. It made little difference on that but at least you can see the engine now.

I like it a lot but not $15k a lot.

The wheel covers are wrong, the shifter is wrong and I'm not crazy about the DIY Line X bedliner. Being picky? Perhaps, but I take my Malaise era cars seriously because they're serious cars.

I'd pay $15k for the 'chero if it were made from a 1980 Fairmont Turbo

or maybe a NASA Electric Car wagon, as seen in the PCH: [jalopnik.com]
