PickupTrucks.com Live Blogs Ford F-150 Raptor R At Baja 1000

In the scheme of awesome things to do on a November weekend, liveblogging the SCORE Tecate Baja 1000 from a beefed up 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor R is way, way high up on the list. Unfortunately that's not what Mike Levine from PickupTrucks.com is up to but he is relaying reports from SVT which is out in the Mexican desert racing the mostly stock Raptor R in the Class 8 full-size two-wheel-drive truck category. The race has already kicked off and things seem to be going well, we're looking forward to seeing how that 500 HP Raptor R deals with the trials of the desert. [PickupTrucks.com]

2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Takes To The Air

You know how half of you have been bellyaching about the footage of the newly unveiled 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and how your 1987 Subaru Brat could take those sand piles? Let's see your all-wheel-drive box try what the Raptor does in this slow-motion aerial ballet put on in the desert outside of Vegas. This looks so impossibly fun — we really like the "uh oh" moment our cameraman has at about about the 51 second mark. Hey, he got the shot. Click though to see the action below.

2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor: First Ride

Ford took us into the desert dirt outside of Las Vegas today to show us a new stock truck package for the 2010 F-150 that looks like it may set the off-road world ablaze. It's called the F-150 SVT Raptor. Thanks to upgrades like internal bypass FOX Racing Shox, a seven-inch wider track and an upgraded front suspension, the Raptor package appears to make this the world's first stock pickup that's fully off-road capable and most importantly, built for speed.

Ford F-150 Raptor Hits The Trail For More Video Teaser Action

Like other outlets, we too received a special "CONFIDENTIAL" package via DHL from Ford SVT this morning. Inside was a CD with the following video clip of the Ford F-150 Raptor being put through its paces in some unnamed desert. Looks like the truck is able to gobble up some pretty serious terrain at some pretty serious speeds. It's a good thing it seems to performs like a champ too, as dealers were urged at the Las Vegas product preview to "drive this right up Toyota's ass."

Ford F-150 Raptor Teased In Online Video

The yet-to-be-revealed Ford F-150 Raptor is set to be one of the most interesting vehicles to come from the SVT division, eschewing street performance for off-roading prowess. Here we get some teaser video of the truck in its element. The actual details on the Raptor are still largely under wraps, but the suspected specs call for a 6.2-liter V8 cranking out 380 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque, Baja-style Fox Racing remote reservoir shocks and beefy tires, adding up to a truck officials at Ford are saying will be the first truck with prerunner-like capability you'll be able to buy from a dealer. The folks in the truck in this video sure seem to be putting those claims to the test. [YouTube via Autoblog]

Ford, PML Flightlink Hauling Plug-in Hybrid F-150 Pickup To SEMA

PML and Ford have been palling around for a while now, most recently to develop the Volvo Recharge C30 concept. Now they've gone in on an in-wheel electric drive plug-in hybrid Ford F-150 concept coming to SEMA. The in-wheel motors are a clever brushed pancake design that act as a part of the wheel and not just another add-in part. We've often thought hybrid tech would be best developed in the pickup market, where high torque matters and light weight and great driving dynamics don't. Don't be surprised if we go poking around this truck when we hit the show floor in Vegas. [Pickuptrucks.com]

New Ford F-150, Dodge Ram Split Confusing Texas Truck Awards

Considering the tremendous capabilities and competency displayed by the 2009 Ford F-150, it's anything but a surprise the truck has been awarded the Truck of Texas title by the Texas Auto Writers Association, making it the sixth year in a row Ford has owned those bragging rights. It was a good year for Ford and no doubt, cost-responsible champagne will be flowing. However, we're definitely confused by this next part. Apparently TAWA also awarded the 2009 Dodge Ram "Full-size Truck of Texas," something which seems to directly contradict the idea of awarding the F-150 the "Truck of Texas."

    2009 Ford F-150, First Drive

The 2009 Ford F-150 comes from people who are intensely aware of what a pickup truck should do, how it should perform and what the customer is after. With the latest iteration of the F-150, Ford has a considerable reputation to live up to and in the face of dwindling pickup sales, needs to make some big promises to attract the customers still in the market. So the question becomes, when you are already the king of an ever-dwindling hill, how do you make that hill bigger?

Ford To Offer Trade-In Cash Back, Financing Incentives, Kitchen Sink To 2009 F-150 Buyers

Ford will be offering new incentives to those trading in their old truck for a new 2009 Ford F-150. Buyers can choose from either $2000 in addition to the value of their trade-in, or 6.9% financing (standard rate is 8.9%). If that doesn't work, Alan Mulally will personally give you either his first-born child, or 15 minutes with his wife to create your own. The idea is to lend a helping hand to truck guys stuck with crappy resale value in a market with decreased demand for big ol' trucks. Of course, this doesn't at all help the people stuck with a truck who want to downsize to something smaller.

Turbonetics F-150 SEMA Special Does Its Best Lightning Impression

PickupTrucks.com reports the forced-induction freaks at Turbonetics are taking a perfectly good 2009 Ford F-150 and bolting on a ceramic ball-bearing turbo for this year's SEMA show. The boost, channeled through a Spearco air-to-air intercooler in the front air dam, should be good for about 100 extra horsepower from the 320 HP 5.4-liter V8. Given that this is SEMA we're talking about, Turbonetics was also obliged to add a lowering kit, custom body and paint work, meaty wheels and tires, carbon fiber and suede interior bits and a mega-wattage Rockford Fosgate sound system. Really though, we'd have been cool with just the hundred extra ponies.
