2009.5 Ford F-150 Diesel Spotted, Could Produce 350 HP

Ford is out and about testing the 2009.5 Ford F-150 Diesel, this time with sheetmetal more suiting to the 2009 model year. As proof that this is the new diesel-powered F-150, the photographers from KGP managed to snap pictures of the "DIESEL FUEL ONLY" strip over the gauge cluster, the telltale slotted/sideways exhaust tips and, most importantly, the first shots of the tank access for the urea. We'd also point out the seven-lug wheels, indicative of the heavy duty payload package. Performance targets for the 4.4-liter diesel V8 and the full spy report below the jump.

New Photos Reveal The 2009 Ferrari California In Glorious Detail

We just received a full load of pictures of the steamy and dreamy 2009 Ferrari California. Ever since the new Ferrari GT made its well-planned debut, we've been slowly digesting the few images we've seen, hungry for more like them. In full, high-color, close-up, car-pr0n detail, we're now treated to views of the new Ferrari from every conceivable angle and all sorts of interior and exterior details. For instance, the steering wheel is pure sex and the gauge cluster has a slick monitor off to the left which details all kinds of fun driver information. We're even able to see the car has a dedicated "launch" button. This, we like. But were we pleased about everything we saw?

We See One Problem With Your Getaway Vehicle, Mr. Rampage

Ultimate Fighting Championship Champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson lived up to his nickname in Orange County Tuesday when he took his camouflage-covered Ford F-250 on a wild Grand Theft Auto-type run through the city, until being pulled over and arrested at gunpoint by local police. How'd they find Jackson? There's a life-sized photo of him on the side of his getaway truck. That, and the UFC champ twice drove on the sidewalk, swerved across lanes and ran through several red lights. Surprisingly, there was no evidence of drug or alcohol usage. Maybe they should test him for bull steroids. [Deadspin, Photo Credit: TMZ]

Lewis Hamilton Races F1 Car Against Learjet

The age-old battle of car versus airplane has been renewed by Lewis Hamilton, racing his McLaren Mercedes F1 car against a Learjet. Sadly, it's not quite as exciting as Top Gear's Bugatti Veyron versus EuroFighter contest, but then this was just some publicity stunt put on because Hamilton is a "brand ambassador" for Bombardier Learjet. Whatevs; we'll take all the car vs. jet battles we can get.

1977 Ford F250

It's been tough to avoid giving most of our DOTS Truck Monday airtime to General Motors products, since Alameda has more Chevy and GMC trucks than any other variety. We've been especially light on 70s Ford pickups, with just the Frankenstein Mix-N-Match F100 so far, so let's start up our Malaise Era 120-horse V8s and take a look at the kind of truck that would have brought a smile to Billy Carter's face (though Billy preferred a Chevy for his personal ride.

PUTC: 2013 Ford F-150 To Get Four-Cylinder EcoBoost Engine

Our good friends at PickupTrucks.com and Automotive News are reporting this morning Ford is planning to offer a version of the F-150 with a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine by 2013. The move is a response to rapidly rising prices at the gas pump and new NHTSA standards that will raise Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for light trucks to 28.6 mpg by 2015. More »

Jalopnik Visits Hennesey Performance: Track Addicts, The Corvette ZR1 And Lexus IS-F

With the demise of the Viper looming, Hennessey Performance is setting itself up to continue providing tuning services well into the future. Surprisingly, Hennessey will be working on the 2009 Corvette ZR1, a car that the company acknowledged as the Viper's enemy. They're also working on offering a kit for the Lexus IS-F, set to include headers and a modified exhaust system to squeeze more oopmh from the eight-geared oddity. And what about that big chunk of land they're sitting on?

New Top Ten Stolen Cars List Shows Criminals Love The '90s

The National Insurance Crime Bureau just announced their list of the top ten most stolen cars, and surprisingly, most of them were cheaper older models from the 1990s. Forbes says it's because these cars' parts have a greater demand on the salvage market, which is probably true since every '95 Honda Civic we see on the road seems to be sporting a hood from some other Civic. Full list below the jump. More »

Enzo-Replacing Ferrari Mule Spotted Testing In Germany

There has been an awful lot of Ferrari news lately, considering the unveil of the 2009 Ferrari California, the official announcement of the oft-rumored Ferrari hybrid program, and news the Enzo replacement would come in a high-powered fun-sized package. Given that, speculation on the latest round of spy photographs is basically an exercise in throwing a dart at the wall. This taped up and modified F430 was captured in Germany and, among the suspicious elements, the exhaust tucked up under the body in an Enzo-like fashion is the one which most raises interest. Well, that and the taped-over rear window. While some are claiming it's the Enzo replacement, they're also claiming it'll have a turbocharged V6 or use the California's direct-injection V8. According to our sources, they're wrong. More »

Guide To F1 Victory Champagne: An Innuendo-Laden List Of How It's Done

Blasting giant bottles of champagne has been a Formula One tradition almost as long as the swig of milk taken on the stand at the Indianapolis 500. So, of course, there are certain stylistically unique ways of celebrating victory, or at least near-victory. GridCrasher has come up with a clever list of 13 types of post-race podium pandemonium that includes pearl necklaces, ninjas, and Mexican stand-offs — just as any decent list mentioning Michael Schumacher should. F1 Loves All Its Fans Equally, Except Some More Equally Than Others

The F1 Paddock Club is the seating area where the Formula One uber-rich go to wine, dine, converse and oh yes, watch some cars do something or the other. Although most invitees to this exclusive club have an income level rivaling some small nations, it must be so bothersome to actually attend the races when they could be out on their yacht in the middle of the Mediterranean. The Paddock Club assists them by acting as a shanty of sorts providing the barest of essentials to help them make it through a day roughing it at the track. Frankly, it's a wonder they even manage to have pan seared tuna and on-site pastry chefs. The folks at F1Fanatic have put together a guide to this brave new world. [Check out the digs at F1Fanatic]

2010 Ford F-150 Raptor Spotted Not Going Off-Road

Ford's "Raptor", the road-ready yet also apparently ready-for-Baja racer version of the 2009 Ford F-150 has been spotted not utilizing its big ol' suspension and tires. Some are suggesting the truck's future may be in jeopardy, what with above-four-dollar gas and all. But it would be something of a shame if this never saw production, because with 35-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, a reported four inches of extra suspension travel, and perhaps even a supercharged V8 good for over 400 HP, the Raptor would be perhaps the most capable off-the-shelf off-road truck Ford has ever built. Ferrari Announces Hybrid Development, World Officially Gone Mad

If you hadn't already divined it from the tea leaves Ferrari has been sprinkling around lately, hybridization is officially coming to the Ferrari stable. Whether it was the bold proclamation at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show that Ferrari would reduce its emissions by 40% by 2012, or the recent hybridized F1 cars outfitted with the KERS system, we all knew it had to happen. Apparently 2015 is where the blindly thrown dart landed on the wall of time. More »

Video: Batmobile Hits The Track At Silverstone

We told you this past week the Batmobile would be taking some laps at Silverstone, with Panasonic Toyota Racing's Formula 1 car team spending some time this weekend running alongside at the track. Now we've got the video to prove that still shot wasn't some kind of hallucination. Don't expect a lot of screeching tires and hard and fast 'round the bend action. Do expect a lot of Panasonic Toyota Racing drivers Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli hamming it up with the Tumbler and the BatPod — which apparently, from what we hear, almost no one can successfully drive. Although Trulli looking like he's searching for the ignition. Still, setting aside the fact that it's fairly lame B-roll in the action department, we've got to say the current incarnation of the Batmobile's the coolest one conceived — even if we don't get to see it taking Silverstone like it deserves to be taken. Sure makes the KITT-like night vision on the 2009 BMW 7-Series look like a kiddie toy, don't it? [via Panasonic Toyota Racing]

Novitec Rosso Twin-Supercharged Ferrari 430 Scuderia

What happens when you bolt two superchargers to a Ferrari 430 Scuderia? Well, you get 717 HP at 8,350 RPM, and 532 lb-ft of torque at 6,250 RPM. That massive power is good for 216 MPH when equipped with an available taller gear ratio. Accelerating from a standstill, you'll hit 62 MPH in 3.5 seconds, and 124 MPH in 10.1 seconds. But don't think that this is just a straight-line showoff — at least it'd better not be for the price.

According to The Times, Bernie Ecclestone warned Max Mosley, "that people had been hired to discredit him and that they had been given an unlimited budget to do so."
