In all honesty, what they've managed to do with the car performance-wise is damn impressive. This really struck me in particular:

"So how's she run? Well enough to impress our cynical scribes. Let's just say that the 6.8 seconds (6.5 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip) the Miatallac required to hit 60 mph is 0.1 second quicker than the 2010 model MX-5 we tested recently. The quarter-mile arrived in 15.0 seconds at 90.7 mph - the same ET as the 2010 MX-5.

Handling was more impressive. Slithering through the slalom at 70.4 mph makes the Miata faster than a 2009 Porsche Carrera S Cabriolet. Road-holding, on heat-cycled, flat-spotted rubber, was better than other $500 cars we've driven, at 0.89g. Braking, at 135 feet from 60, is 14 feet shorter than a 2009 Honda Pilot and that's without ABS and on those same crap tires."

@Leeeeena, a Jalopchick: As much as I sort of don't exactly prefer Miatas in LeMons, this is a huge exception.

I, of course, never learned to read, so hearing you repeat its performance is actually a great asset to me! That's really rather incredible. I do very much hope, now, that it doesn't just explode into a gigantic fireball.

@FLB is a trekkie: It is The King's car.

Well, if The King had become a cocaine addict rather than a drunk, and thus ended up weighing ninety-two pounds and sucking cock for blow.

Instead of the drinking, barbiturate near-ODs, and falling off the toilet at the end. Which, come to think of it, isn't really any more dignified.

    Carry on.

How can it not come in first with the Caddy Wings on the back. I will go even futher and say that the wings give the Miata an unfair advantage.

So, when did Peter start posting about LeMons? I can see it now, child like crayon illustrations of all the action, artsy like photography of "Le Crapcans", biting commentary about the award presentations.

Meh, I'll be busy this weekend anyway.

    Until then, Le Mans.

@SirNotAppearing: I started asking that question a long time ago, I grew up with the rule that the hood was required for safety but as you see from the smart ass responses you got here, apparently that rule no longer applies. Then again, a wafer-thin racing hood is not exactly going to deter a flying rod or a piston head.
