All this car needs now is a trailer hitch for towing a similarly attractive generator trailer (aka range extender). It then would become a highly desireable track toy or grand tourer.
I'd love to take this on a mountain drive through the Cascades. Ahh... where's my Scotch and humidor?

Siemens wants to get into the electric auto industry to add to its green credentials.
Alois Ruf needs to increase demand for his hydroelectric power stations.
Thus, we give you the eRuf Greenster. Like all RUF vehicles, it is based on a Porsche. Currently it is fitted with a single 270kW motor producing 950 Nm of torques. Future plans are for a double-motor drive called eDrive (not to be confused with iDrive, different vowel). This will allow charge times under an hour at 400V from your home power station. It will also allow the electrical grid to suck your batteries dry during a power outage.
No details on range or smug credits were given.

outlet. . .
Ex-squeeze me? I baking powder? 400-volt outlet?
Sure, let me just unplug the nightlight in the hall and we'll have a go so I can DIM THE LIGHTS IN THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD. 400-volt outlet? Those Germans are wackier than I could have ever imagined.
I notice there's no mention of how far this beauty (and I really like the old school targa top) will run on a charge, but I'm guessing it's measured in feet rather than miles.

I wonder which connector style these Vaporware Roadsters will require? Hubbell Twist-Lock, NEMA pin-and-sleeve, NEMA blade-style, Euro-style IEC-60309, or maybe even Camlocks... Or, of course, Something Else that's incompatible with everything.
I wasn't suprised when a quick Google search turned up lots of electric-car cheerleading sites, but nothing that was easy to find about power delivery to the vehicles.

Now, there's a fetish that's both kinky and environmentally friendly. Much better than Diesel Dykes in Daisy Dukes.
