    Perhaps we have all been spoiled by the high quality portraits we get from Murillee and Denver KITT et al.

    Depending on your point of view, these are either an homage or a rip off of Robert Bechtle's realist oil paintings. Minus any soul.

    AFAIC, Murilee does just as well, with more interesting sujects.

    @powermatic: But Murilee's too modest to include himself in the Jalopnik Car Photography Canon.

    Sadly, the one parked in front of Kevork's looks ready for a visit from the doctor.

    Late malaise Nova: Worst. Landau. Ever.

    @flyingstitch: Agreed. Starting around this year (73 or so) Chevy just didn't seem to know what to do with the Nova--they tarted it up quite a bit, which really didn't suit it, and then by 75 turned it into a generic looking sedan. But don't tell Beercheck I said that. 75 was still recognizable as a Nova but it was fading fast.

    Great shots. What is that gold drop top, a 71 Torino or thereabouts? Very rare. The stealth Buick Deuce-and-a-quarter is well done indeed as is, of course, the Nova.

    "PRO photographer" Uhm, are you sure he's a PRO?

    It looks like I can do that easily with my iPhone.

    @Theimbellis: If you've got an eye for composition, framing, color and catching the narrative of a scene, then I agree, using an iPhone is no impediment, and the technical limitations of the format you're using (ex: Lomography) can be part of the work's charm.

    So if you have these things, start shooting cars and I'm sure Murilee will be happy to run your pics.

    :p

    Y'know, aside from the dents and missing trim on the rear quarters, this sonofabitch is solid. Great find!

    My grandma had an Olds 98 coupe of about this same vintage, and I think the same color combo. I think I'm in lust.

    I had '73 Estate Wagon even bigger then this beast and it complete with the "Cow catcher" bumper that added another foot the over all length. Had a couple late 60's and early 70's Caddys for parts cars other then engine and rad the rest of the running gear was the same. Put a set snow tires on it and there was not snow deep to slow it down even in northern Maine where is living at the time. Leaking rad, worn out pump (250k miles on the original) add one can of rad stop leak, fill with water, load car to max hauling capacity with last load while moving. {wait for it} At 44 miles of 45 mile trip the temp lights come on and beast starts knocking, crank up the heat to max put the foot the floor... {can you say Boom!!! sure I knew could}

    @Stranger then most: Thanks for the memories--I'd blocked out driving along on a hot day, windows open, heat blasting. Also the West VA radiator, as we called it, popping the hood but not undoing the latch, so the air could circulate better...

    Ah, the good old days when buying a Buick didn't mean you were waiting to die. It meant you intended to run anything smaller than an aircraft carrier off the road.
