Strange customization. Our look at the ten ugliest custom Porsche Cayennes below.

Despite being mean, fast creampuffs, these over-tuned SUVs suffer from bad paint jobs, questionable materials, unruly body kits or some mixture of all the above. Click "next" to see what the world of spicy tuned Cayennes has to offer.

10.) TECHART Cayenne
Country Of Origin: Switzerland
Theme: Cheshire Cat
What Makes It Awful: The body kit on this Cayenne makes the lumbering wagon look more like a DTM machine — albeit one with a giant, stupid grin and mascara.

9.) Edo Competition
Country Of Origin: Germany
Theme: School Bus
What Makes It Awful: We're not sure where the idea for combining a school bus with the Porsche Cayenne came from, but at least the underlying vehicle is quick enough to outrun the ugly.

8.) Status Design Porsche Cayenne
Country Of Origin: Russia
Theme: First Generation Cylon
What Makes It Awful: In addition to looking like some sort of scary cyber bug, the Russian company takes the already questionable Porsche Cayenne dimensions and adds two sets of scoops and a set if wings.

7.) RUF Dakara
Country Of Origin: Germany
Theme: Porsche 911
What Makes It Awful: Despite being a sales success, many Porschephiles feel the Cayenne is not truly a Porsche. For them, RUF has added the 993 911-style headlights to create a more Porsche-like look. It makes us think less of a Porsche and more of this dream we had involving us being mowed down by an angry dragonfly.

6.) BYD T6
Country Of Origin: China
Theme: Chinese Clone
What Makes It Awful: The Porsche Cayenne is popular around the world, but not everyone can afford one. Thus the BYD T6, a Chinese knockoff, is similar to the Porsche but offers only the power of a tiny 2.0-liter fourbanger.

5.) HAMANN Cyclone
Country Of Origin: Germany
Theme: Snakeskin
What Makes It Awful: As if the M5-type front end wasn't strange enough on the big SUV, when you get on the inside many of the surfaces have been refinished with snakeskin. Seriously. We want these monkey fighting snakes off this monday-to-friday Porsche!

4.) SpeedART Titan BTR 550
Country Of Origin: Germany
Theme: Autobahn Beefster
What Makes It Awful: All efforts Porsche took to create a svelte SUV are thrown out window and what's left is an SUV that looks beefier than a Jersey heifer.

3.) Mansory Chopster
Country Of Origin: Germany
Theme: Bentley On Acid
What Makes It Awful: Luxury car tuner Mansory turns to the Cayenne but doesn't bring with them the usual style and design enthusiasm. For this Porsche there's a 2.3-inch chopped roof, wide-as-William Perry body, and raw carbon fiber body panels offset with a wide orange stripe. It looks like a prop for an especially awful science fiction movie.

2.) The Tourayenne
Country Of Origin: Russia
Theme: Yellow Submarine
What Makes It Awful: We've yet to determine if this is a Porsche Cayenne or the similarly-platformed VW Touareg with some Porsche upgrades. Either way, it's a nightmare one-off with garish yellow paint and an escape hatch out back.

1.) DC Design Two-Door Cayenne
Country Of Origin: India
Theme: Hot Hatch
What Makes It Awful: From the strange creasing around the body to the missing set of doors, this three-door Porsche makes us feel much better about the five-door Cayenne.

<![CDATA[EDO-Tuned Lamborghini LP710 Audigier Mixes High Speed With Questionable Style]]> Sure it goes over 224 miles per hour, but do you really want this EDO Lamborghini Murcielago LP710 Audigier? Especially if it comes emblazoned with graphics fit for the cheesiest of motorcycle helmets?

Those high-style graphics come from none other than fashion-world somebody Christian Audigier who's apparently known for his pirate themed styles. We're not kidding. People pay for that. Seriously. When it comes to his collaboration with EDO, the LP710 Audigier will be limited to only five copies each tweaked in the same style at the pleasure of the buyer. All of them will get the same three month tear-down and build-up process in order to modify the car for speeds in excess of 224 MPH. Modifications include unmentioned engine tweaks, aerodynamics including a very Diablo SV-like spoiler, wheels, tires, and exhaust system.

Of course, the interior gets a massage to match the tasteful skulls, thorny vines, and butterfly wings paint job. Order yours now and be the classiest guy in your trailer park. [NetCarShow]

<![CDATA[Edo Competition Tuned Ferrari Enzo Is No Fierrari Enzno]]> Yesterday we told you all about the greatest Fierrari Enzno ever built, a piece of kit with such attention to detail it would make a Swiss watchmaker weep. Today we pick up on another niche coachbuilder following in the footsteps of the Fierrari, Edo Competition. Despite starting off with an actual Enzo instead of a Pontiac Fiero, Edo totally falls flat when compared to the magic of the Enzno. In-depth analysis below the fold.

Ferrari-Edo2.jpg
Ferrari-Edo.jpg
Ferrari-Edo3.jpgWe think it's fairly clear by these glaring faults that Edo has a lot of work to do, and we didn't even jump into some of the more disappointing details down the sides. Seriously, the Enzo is a good start and all, but pumping up a tepid car to a meager 700 HP, dropping carbon fiber bits all over the place, adding an adjustable suspension and quicker shift points is just totally phoning it in. <![CDATA[Edo Maserati MC12 Corsa]]> If you've got Krugerrands enough to give King Midas a case of the wobblies, and you want a GT1 racecar to take shopping, call Edo Competition. Never one to shrink from a high-buck project, Edo created a tuner version of the Maserati MC12 Corsa. That's the $1.7 million, track-only version of Maserati's Enzo-based halo GT car built for homologation's sake, the lightweight Maserati MC12 Corsa. Edo's futzed with the suspension, exhaust and braking systems, applied a new tire and wheel package, and says it's getting approval for its Corsa to be street legal. Sure it'll be awesome, as such reckless disregard for convention sometimes is, though Maserati purists will likely tape pictures of the Halloween-orange racer to their dart boards.

Press Release:

Introduction of the edo MC12 Corsa

* Sport suspension with nose lift function
* Specially designed high-flow exhaust system
* New high-performance brake system
* New tire & wheel package
* Road-legal

During last year's FIA GT championship Maserati drove their competitors into the ground with the MC12 GT1 (which already spawned the MC12). On the occasion of the overall victory, Maserati introduced the limited edition (12 units) MC12 Corsa.

The Über-Maserati weighs nearly 400 kg (880 lbs) less than the base MC12 (1,150 instead of 1,531 kg [2530 lbs instead of 3368 lbs]). This corresponds to a power-to-weight ratio of 1.5 kg / hp (3.36 lb / hp). With 755 hp and 740 Nm (546 ft-lb) of torque, the Corsa will run circles around the regular MC12 (632 hp).

edo competition does not shy away from extreme sports cars such as this one; instead it gives them finishing touches! Consequently a special suspension system developed by edo competition and manufactured by KW was fitted. The independently adjustable compression and rebound damping permits truly individual suspension setups. The unique system, with its three different adjustments, allows for low-speed compression damping characteristics to be altered while the high-speed settings, having a strong influence on ride-quality, remain constant. True racing technology for the road! Additionally the nose lift function available on the regular MC12 is carried over to avoid front and underbody damage.

Engine-wise, edo competition leaves the 755 hp-strong MC12 Corsa untouched. However, the 6.0-liter V12 now announces its power through a newly developed edo competition high-flow exhaust system - and it does so with a soundtrack guaranteed to induce goose bumps! The sports exhaust system with electronically controlled butterfly valves provides visual cues to the MC12 Corsa's power thanks to dual exhaust tips, each with a diameter of 100 mm (4 in). edo competition put a strong emphasis on quality during its construction. The muffler and exhaust tips are made from durable V2A stainless steel. And, not to be overlooked: a remote control to adjust the sound intensity has been installed!

For better cold braking properties during road use, edo competition employed a ceramic composite high-performance brake system with 396 mm (15.6 in) rotors in the front and 360 mm (14.2 in) rotors in the rear along with special brake pads at both ends.

edo competition had newly developed forged wheels (in black) custom made for the edo MC12 Corsa. On the front axle they're of size 10 J x 19 and on the rear axle of size 13 J x 20. The wheels employed by edo competition are shod with 265/35 ZR19 (front) and 335/30 ZR20 (rear) tires.

An official approval for road service is in preparation so that this unique edo MC12 can also be admired outside of the race track.

<![CDATA[Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 by Edo Competition]]>

Let it never be said that a factory tuner car can't take just a little more juice from the aftermarket. Edo Competition futzed with Lamborghini's top-of-mast Murcielago LP640, finding an extra 23 hp under the seat cushions. Actually, they found it in the ECU, the airflow setup and exhaust. The Euro-spec V12, they say, now produces 663 hp and 498 lb-ft of torque. Edo also fitted its tuner with a rear wing with adjustable lip, carbon fiber interior trim and a backup camera, so Lambo drivers might actually be able to avoid stuff behind them, without having to stick their heads out the door. Pretty sneaky, Edo.

<![CDATA[Edo Competition's Maserati MC12 at Hockenheimring]]>

Edo Competition's juiced Maserati MC12 is about as close to a street-legal Le Mans car you can get for less than an oil tanker filled with Krugerrands (or is that more?). Actually, Edo's tuner proves what can be done when money is no object, which is to say a race-ready weekend sports car that's impractical for anything but being flogged on the Hockenheimring. And in this video, that's exactly what the Edo bunch does to a pre-paint prototype. At a top speed of 242 mph, it's not the fastest, but it's definitely got a certain presence.

<![CDATA[Edo Competition Ford GT]]>

Don't adjust your rods and cones; that Ford GT isn't supposed to be black and orange. Sure, Germany's Edo Competition often makes with the Halloween colors on its modded cars, but this time it's playing matters close to the vest. Its Ford GT tuning and cosmetics kit is good for 60 extra horsepower and some additional visual interest. It comprises a sport exhaust, carbon fiber engine bay paneling, rear wing, custom wheels, air-pressure control system (for tires, not passengers), and suspension tweaks. It's good for a reduction in zero-to-62 mph (100 km/h) time from 3.9 seconds to 3.7 seconds and increases top speed to a reported 211 mph from 205 stock. Sometimes in this crazy 'ol Siegfried and Roy car world we live in, subtlety is a virtue. [Thanks to Eric for the tip.]

<![CDATA[Ever See a Flying Bus? EDO's Porsche Cayenne Tuner]]>

Okay, its arguable to consider the Porsche Cayenne's true antecedent to be the VW bus, especially when the Stuttgartian SUV can be tweaked into performing such feats of strength (just in time for Festivus). As we mentioned back in November, Edo's highly tweaked, twin-turbo Cayenne seemed from the spec sheet to be quite a goer. Now, we get to see it in action, though still donning that orange-and-black-o-lantern paint job. Lucky for Hockenheim, racetracks don't have eyes.

<![CDATA[The Flying Bus: Edo Competition's Porsche Cayenne Turbo]]>

Generally speaking, black-and-orange color schemes should be confined to coal fires and plastic jack 'o lanterns. This Porsche Cayenne tuner from Edo Competition does little to refute that, but it is quite a goer for such a fat ride. The Edo bunch, perhaps best known as the company that dared finagle with the Maserati MC 12 supercar (click through to the jump page for more on that), worked the 4.5-liter V8 to produce 610 hp and 579 ft-lbs of torque. Such tweakage cuts the bus's zero-to-60 time to 4.6 seconds, and gives it a top speed of 180 mph. Suspension mods and 22"alloys keep matters groundward. Paint it in British racing green and we have a deal.
