This isn't the last time we'll see the E7 on the news, as they tell us it's coming to a disaster near you in 2012. But, they do make mention of some of the neat trick equipment on-board and show why we really hope (or maybe don't hope, depending on how we look at it), this police cruiser makes it into production.

<![CDATA[Carbon Motors Releases Actual Photos Of Their E7 Police Car]]> Carbon Motors finally released non-computer generated pictures of their E7 purpose-built police car, countering concerns that the vehicle was merely vaporware. The company has been claiming for at least a year now that the E7 will be the police car of the future but hasn't provided much in the way of proof. These photos appear not only to be real, but to also show a car similar to the computer illustrations, including the integrated push-bar and LED lights.

According to the company, it'll feature a turbodiesel engine and an aluminum spaceframe chassis. It'll also come equipped with license plate recognition, 360-degree exterior surveillance, shotgun mounts, backup cameras and forward-looking infrared. We're still not sure that this isn't vaporware, but having a working prototype is a step in the right direction.

<![CDATA[Electric Peugeots Trying To Edge Out London Taxis]]> At the upcoming British International Motor Show, an electric competitor to the familiar old London Cab will be launched. Based on the Peugeot MPV, the Allied Vehicles E7 is designed for cabbies considering cutting costs. Despite its lithium-ion batteries, range is still limited to 100 miles, which we're guessing is somewhat less if you're cruising around all day at the 60 MPH top speed.

The E7 is said to cost the equivalent of just over $79,000. That's a lot compared to the electric NICE Ze-O at $28,000, or even the $70,000 or so a traditional TX4 taxi will set you back. Especially when you can get a Chinese-built Geely TX4 for even less. But then, maybe the E7 is worth it to cab drivers looking to cut down on emissions and maintenance costs. [TheAutoChannel]
