It's a good thing they didn't start with a e30 Touring; it would've opened up a vortex of awesome so powerful as to suck every wagon, -amino, DAF, FAF, Citroen and LeMons car into an alternate dimension.

Im sure this thing will be badass and all, but Im going to say:

Save the E30 M3s!!

Considering how much modification this thing is undergoing they should have just used a regular E30 and slapped the M bits all over it afterwards. Its not like it would have been a posermobile by any stretch with the V10 under the hood.

I've never been a fan of using the good/rare/desirable models for complete teardown/re-do extreme builds like these.

My personal pet peeve is when 1st generation 4Runners get all chopped up to be hardcore trail rigs. If you're gonna do that, just start with a truck!

Articles like this keep making me want to up the stakes on my project Corrado. It started with a supercharged 20V 1.8. Then I wanted to go to an Audi 4.2L V8.
Now I want to try a W12.

I need therapy.

There are countless great ideas that fall by the wayside due to poor execution. There are a great many poor ideas that come to existence due to great execution. There are very few great ideas lucky enough to be paired with truly great execution (and proper funding). This is a great idea paired with some proper fabricating know-how, it's a beautiful thing.
This is why I hang around Jalopnik, crazy-wacked-out schemes expertly executed with pant-loads of pictures. I'll not be following the rest of this weeks articles, I'll be here drooling on my keyboard over the 74 glorious pictures of this wondrous beast.
I can't see how things could get any better than this... Seriously, as if this wasn't a Wile E. Coyote plan to begin with, the crate motor comes in a box marked "V10 in a box". Orderd that from BMW? or ACME?

Out of all the BMW V10 conversions i've seen i'd have to say the Hartge Z3 M coupe V10 still stands out as the most impressive

Weight distribution and total curb weight? I wonder if this thing will be so heavy, and front-heavy, that it won't outperform the stock E30 around a road course.
