It would be more palatable if BMW dropped the pretense of off-road capability and just called it an Estate wagon, though.

The X1 isn't that bad looking, but I will be saving further opinions until I know more. Like, will it have the M3's 4.0L V8? Then I would definitely like it.

They don't even pretend to offer SUV-like ground clearance. This is just a way to get the 1-series 5-door into people's hands for more money, especially in the US where the former is not offered.
I sincerely hope Europe laughs this thing into shame.

Please scrap the X1 and produce the E38-amino instead.
