Wow, I almost forgot! It's been a about a week or so since the last ass kissing fest concerning another new/regurgitated Mercedes. Let's just have another website for the trendy asshole cars to be featured on. We can call it Smallcocknik, so the Corvette and Porsche owners will feel at home too.
Ummm.... yeah.... What's the point of the E 63, or any AMG for that matter? Precisely, there is not a rational one. Ask M-B's deeply-pocketed patrons. Anyways, the only M-Bs worth a damn (the A- and B-Klasse)aren't even sold here...
I still don't understand the purpose of these things. For all intents and purposes, most people would do better with a Buick. If you want an E, get the diesel sedan. Or an AMG Sturmwagen. Honestly, this vehicle is like a patent leather bathingsuit. Just, WHY?
Nice to see that some of the available safety technology has become a standard feature. Hopefully more of the "S" class safety features will eventually trickle down. While it all reads pretty abstract and might seem over-the-top, it's amazing how quickly you get used to having the car "react" for you once you start driving with it.
Also, I'd love to know why the hell MB puts an analog clock in its instrument panel. Nearly all of their cars have one. It's fine to put a digital one on the dash or in the IP, but having a full-fledged analog clock next to the speedo, and making it as big as the tach, is soooo lame.
@Rock517: Agree, but I don't care whether it is digital or analogue, just put it in the middle of the dash (like the S class) where the passenger can see it. No one other than the driver can see it over there.
@Maymar bans bare chassis hoonage: Maymar, the point and "I want that one" is how it works for many of these upperclass people. I WANT THAT ONE, DADDY. THAT ONE.
Forget the cost, forget how it behaves, forget even test driving-- THAT ONE.
Here's the problem. The E-class sedan, is actually pretty awesome. It really is the quintessential Mercedes-Benz. It's durable, reasonably quick (Insanely fast in AMG spec.) and it isn't as ostentatious as say a 5 series. The coupe is just too nouveau riche for me.
Why don't they just go back to the sweet dual oval headlights. They keep dancing around the best looking Mercedes design language, but they keep missing the mark
@Forgetful: I'm with you...as much as I'm enjoying SOME of the current crop, the W210 E-Class ran the gamut from classy and understated, to downright mean and powerful (with some trims/mods).

Actually, fuck the tach. That can go over there, in a little 2" square. The clock, the clock rules over all.

Nein. It's a 6-Series "competitor", a horrible one at that.

Too bad I don't give a damn.
That being said, I really like MB's new design direction. The S, E, and C classes look great.
